Frances Ward Rodeffer

Frances Estelle (Ward) Rodeffer, age 94, of Vienna, VA died on May 9, 2012 at Manor Care Fair Oaks. She was born on November 23, 1917 in Frederick, MD to the late Spencer and Mildred Clagett Ward.
Frances graduated from James Madison College in 1938 then returned to farm life in Montgomery County, MD, married Joseph Darby and moved to Kensington, MD, where she both taught school and later became the school secretary at the Kensington Elementary School until she retired in 1978.
Having lost their spouses to ill health and both having known each other in Harrisonburg during their college days, Frances married Winfred Rodeffer in 1973 and resided in Winfred's loving and lovely home in Vienna, VA. Both active members of McLean Bible Church and pioneers and supporters of many civic organizations in the Vienna Community, namely the Vienna Committee for Helping Others, Vienna's Lion's Club and the Food Bank of Vienna.
Frances was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Newton Darby and Winfred Myers Rodeffer, loving and devoted mother of J. Ward Darby of Vienna, VA, sister of Hope Craver, proud grandmother of Jennifer Miller, great-grandmother of Jed and Amy Miller.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 12th at 11am at Darnstown Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Darnstown, MD. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Vienna Lion's Club, P.O. Box 292, Vienna, VA 22183 or the Committee for Helping Others (C.H.O.), P.O. Box 233, Vienna, VA 22183.
