Fred, you will be sorely missed. Gone way to soon. I will forever remember the big smile on your face when our children (Denise – and your son Tim were married 2 1/2 years ago). Rest In Peace, and May God give Linda strength and comfort. John & Kathy Lenihan
Fred was my best friend in high school and for years after. My heart breaks. The world has lost a very special guy.
I am so sorry to hear this. Fred was a frequent visitor to our home as a teen, when he was a friend of my sister. He was such a nice guy –funny and smart, always respectful. His claim to fame as a sophomore in high school was that he was the only boy we knew at that age who really needed to shave. He always took any teasing about his ‘5:00 shadow’ with great good humor. He was a lovely guy. My condolences to his family.
It was with great sadness that we learned of Fred‘s passing. Fred and Linda have been our neighbors and good friends for 25 years. Our children grew up together. We so enjoyed our regular get-together’s and neighborhood chats. Fred was a kind, caring and compassionate friend and decent person, a gentleman in every sense of the word. We will miss your smile, laughter and positive outlook. Fred, the world, and our neighborhood, is an emptier place without you. Rest In Peace friend.
Your gleeful smile, your gentle heart, your steady calm, your tremendous love and devotion for your family and friends are just a few of the many qualities we most admired about you. You left without warning and took a small piece of us with you. But, every day for the rest of our lives we will be missing you and you will forever remain in our hearts. Linda & Joe
One of the kindest men I ever met. He loved his family deeply. Linda, Timmy, Allison, my heart hurts for you. I pray you find peace and strength to get through this difficult time. ❤️
Always a smile on your face that started with the corners of your mouth and concentrated in your eyes, as if you could see joy and the bright side of everything. It didn’t matter if you were chatting over a beer, pedaling on the trail or shoveling a foot of snow–maybe especially then. You seemed to have figured out how to make the best of everything. You will be missed, Fred, by everyone. Too soon, dear friend, too soon.
We shared so many meaningful and valuable memories during our early years, and I always assumed we would rekindle and re-energize our times together now that we are entering our retirement era. I am missing that already…… Lesson learned. My cousin Fred, you made us all proud – life well lived
Fred, You were our neighbor, and dear friend, for over 25 years. Throughout that time, you always had a smile on your face…and a story to share. In fact, the last story you told us was New Year’s Eve when you talked about how you and Linda met. A ‘blind blind date’ you called it, because the lights were out. You were a wonderful man of great integrity, admired by all. You lived a life of great service and you loved your family dearly. You left us too soon and we will miss you dearly but your legacy is strong. RIP, dear friend. Myra and Len Spoden
Mr. Lees was a patient of mine for almost 30 years. He will be SADLY missed. Not only was he a patient, but I truly consider him a friend, at least once a year for sure, as we always spoke about more than just his eyes. He was genuine, he was so delightful to be around, I will miss seeing him at his once a year appointments. As I am still in disbelief, I send my heartfelt condolences to his lovely wife and his 2 TERRIFIC children. My sadness goes out to you all.
It is with a very heavy heart that I send my condolences for Fred’s passing. I was just in a chat with a Fort Hunt buddy, explaining how Fred was one of very few names I remembered from my days as Fort Hunt’s football mascot and Fort Hunt’s baseball batboy back in the early 70s. It was an invaluable life lesson, traveling with the players and seeing how they and opposing teams conducted themselves and competed. Fred was memorable for all the right reasons. He was a great competitor who never gave up or mouthed off, never a show boat, always a class act, always a player whose presence commanded respect. It’s interesting the people and events from our youth that make a lasting impression on us. If I were asked to name one player from an opposing team during my mascot/batboy years, I would say, “Fred Lees”. He made the world a better place, and I give thanks that he was one of my role models. May warm memories of Fred be always with you. Chris Ryan
We were greatly saddened by Fred’s passing. His love and pride of family was obvious in every conversation. While the personification of modesty and discretion, Fred was a devoted patriot during his long, unselfish service in the defense of the Republic. His kind nature and fellowship will be sorely missed. He was the very best of men. Doug and Kathleen Miller
Fred’s was a life well lived. He loved and was devoted to his wife, family and friends. He loved his country and protected it with honor and distinction. Those who knew Fred will miss him always. Surely God greeted him with the words: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Michael and MaryAnn Flynn
I’m so glad I was able to Fred as my brother-in-law for all these years. He will be greatly missed. It is comforting to know that a part of him will live on, helping others to enjoy life as much as he did. All my love, Patty
Fred was a wonderful uncle but above all an incredible person. He was kind, he was thoughtful, he was caring and he will be deeply missed by all of us. Love, Brian, Beth and Ben
Fred has been a wonderful husband, father and part of our family. He has always given to others, and this donation reflects how much he loved and how much he is loved. Love to you always, Karen and Ron.
Fred is a truly genuine and authentic man and the best friend anyone could have. He is always quick with both a smile and an act of kindness. He gladly gives part of himself so that others may live a happy and healthy life.
Fred was a fantastic uncle, husband, and father who always displayed passion and zeal in his love of life and his family. He will be so greatly missed within our family, but forever remembered in our hearts. Love, David, Cassie, Avery, and Charlie
I have such fond, fun memories of Fred, starting back when he and Linda first met. I love how dedicated he was to everything in his life, but especially to his family — both his parents and siblings, as well as Linda and their delightful children. His was a life too short. Based on the number of people from all phases of his life who came to honor him, he will be sorely missed by many! With much love, Steph
A candle was lit for the decedent.
Fred was my best friend and I will miss him. A stand up guy whom you could always depend on. The more enriched a person makes our live the harder it is when they are no longer here. With Fred’s passing the loss is great. Linda, Tim, Allison, and family, please remember that we will surround you with love and support always. Love, Peter, Mary, Emma, and Sully Stefanik
Awww, Fred. I remember you dressed in a last-minute Halloween costume; helping to decorate the Christmas tree in a townhouse where your gender was greatly under represented—and being a good sport about it; and putting up with silly girls on the way to The Place for The Best Ice Cream on a typical Virginia summer night. I remember an earnest man who took his service to his country as well as football very seriously, but who could also enjoy a great laugh and was loyal and dedicated to his friends. And, of course, you were steadfast, true and loving to Linda, Allison, Tim, Denise…and Teddy. It was our distinct honor to know you. With great respect and affection, Joanne and John
So very sorry to hear this news today. I fondly remember Fred and will miss his support and common sense approach to life. I will always remember the night you came to our party back in 1999 and brought that special bottle of champagne. He was so proud! We will miss him greatly. You are in our prayers. Carl and Meg Grebe
