Loving mother of Carla Caves(Timothy) and Yvonne Espinosa (Diego); daughter of the late Emil and Lydia Metz (Angelina); cherished grandmother of Megan, Heidi, Timothy Jr., Phyllis, Gabriela, Alexander and Natalie; two great-grandchildren, Jakob and Isabella.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Dr. Cyrus and Myrtle Katzen Cancer Research Center, 2150 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 1-200, Washington, DC 20037.

I had the good fortune and pleasure of knowing Gerlinde since she first arrived in Washington, D. C. I met her on her first job and was attracted to her personality and character. I can say that I was a patron wherever she was employed. I moved out of the city in 2006 and did not see Gerlinde much after that but will forever cherish the memories of this fine lady. I am truly saddened by her passing.
