Of McLean, VA died on March 25, 2012 at Reston Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Ward; a daughter, Charlotte Mosley (John); two sons, David Smith and John Smith; three grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Nell Bourg of Louisiana and Ruth Pierce (Charles); two brothers, Robert L. Sims (Lily) of Memphis, TN and William Jerry Sims. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Lloyd Sims; her first husband Preston Overstreet, second husband, Jim Smith; third husband, Robert J. Rankin; and son, Alan Smith. Mrs Rankin attended Wayne County Mississippi Schools. She worked in the dental field for more than 30 years.

Dear John , I was shocked and saddened when Charles told me that Hazel had passed away. You have my deepest sympathy. My memories of you taking such care to bring her to her beauty salon appointments make me smile. I will miss the nice chats that you and I had about your cruises. Be strong, John .
