  8. Sgt. Herb McWilliams was an outstanding and dedicated police officer. It was an honor to have worked with him. Herb was also an outstanding football coach. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

  9. Every time I go by a Ford dealership, I recall Herbie saying one day after football practice.. ” X Ford’s (I forgot the name of the Alex Ford dealer)motto is ‘ We stand behind everything we sell… except manure spreaders” Always brought a smile to my face and I’m sure he affected others the same way.

  10. Dear Family Members, I was so sorry to hear of the passing of my Hammond High School classmate and football teammate. I was the tackle, he was the linebacker behind me, and we had a rocking time! Even though I moved away from Alexandria, I wanted you to know he was remembered. I had heard he had gone into law enforcement. But I missed all his later football fame. You must be proud even in this sad moment.

  11. I can remember being an Anklebiters, looking up to the Vienna Raiders, and aspiring to play for the legendary coach Herb McWilliams one day. I got my chance in 1978, the last year I played football. Coach McWilliams taught me a lot – and not just about football. I’ll never forget him or the great year the 1978 Vienna Raiders had. Rest in peace Coach.

  12. Scott, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family. To the coach who gave me a nickname in my freshman year of high school that has stuck for life, I know you will always be up there with Coach Cooke making sure I hit the sled! Rest in peace! John “Quasimodo” Dix

  13. Your work with the youth of Vienna will never be forgotten. Thank you for saving ALOT of young men and for your tireless work.
