Iris Scott Robinson departed this life on Sunday, December 13, 2015. She was born as Iris Elizabeth Hastings on May 27, 1922, in Bethel, Delaware, the daughter of Minnie Massey Hastings and Harley Greg Hastings. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1940. She attended Mary Washington College for two years and then started work at the DuPont Company in Seaford, De. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, James Carroll Scott, Junior, of 25 years, in 1971, and by her second husband, A. Paul Robinson, of 6 years, in 1986. She is survived by her daughter, Lina Scott Woodall (Jonathan), and her granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Woodall (Andrew Vessels), as well as nieces: Donna Phillips, Susan Brown, and Holly Malone, and nephews: J. Orlan Brown, Jeff Hastings, and Richard Barber. She is pre-deceased by her parents, her brother, Rudolph Hastings, her sister-in-law, Mildred Brown, and nephew, Wayne Brown.

In 1997, she moved from Laurel, Delaware, to Fairfax, Va., so that she could help her daughter Lina's family. Iris was grateful to the staff of The Virginian, a continuing care retirement community in Fairfax, where she lived for the last five years, in particular to the Partner-in-Care staff that helped her the last two years.

A graveside service is planned with Pastor Bill Nack officiating on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at 1 PM, at Sailor's Bethel United Methodist Church, Bethel, De. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sailor's Bethel United Methodist Church, PO Box 187, Bethel, DE 19931; Bethel Historical Society, PO Box 224, Bethel, DE 19931; or the charity of your choice.
