J. Lester Doerstler

J. Lester Doerstler of Vienna, VA (age 90) and originally of Lancaster, PA died on May 18, 2015. Les was born on August 15, 1924 to Dorothy Mae Hersh and Enos Doerstler. He was the longtime friend of Martha Avila; loving father of Diane Doerstler who predeceased him, J. Allen Doerstler, and Elaine Homstad; beloved adopted father of Sandra Avila, Denisse Mueller, Andres Rodriguez, Fernando Avila; and cherished grandfather to six grandchildren.
Les enlisted in the Merchant Marine and also served in the Army as Private First Class Company G, 157th Infantry from October 1944 until July 1946. His Decorations include the Eame Campaign Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Army of Occupation Ribbon, and Victory Ribbon. Following WWII, Les attended Benjamin Franklin University on the GI Bill and graduated with an Accounting Degree. He operated a successful construction business and later owned and operated Sylvia's, an ice cream manufacturing business.
A memorial service will be held at Money and King Funeral Home in Vienna on Friday, May 29 at 11am. Interment will follow the service at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax, VA. Online guestbook available @ www.moneyandking.com.
