My mother and I would like to express our condolences to Jim’s family. My Dad enjoyed working with him for several years and deeply liked and respected him. I remember when Daddy was hospitalized right after aneurism surgery. He was in the ICU at George Washington University Hospital. As I sat there in the open ward with machines beeping and people in serious condition, a nurse approached me. She said I had an emergency phone call. I stepped over to the station in the middle of the room. I reached through the monitors with all the wires in order to get the phone. It was Jim. He hadn’t heard from me and wanted to know how “Pappy” was doing! When Jim cared about something, nothing could stop him! Not even ICU where phone calls were not allowed. That was great! Daddy loved that story. Please know that we are very sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful man. Sincerely, Sandy and Helen Swartz (Family of Robert “Pappy” Swartz from Navy Federal Credit Union 1974-1987)
Jim was a good freind and mentor of mine for many years at NFCU. I will always remember the “good ole days” and all the great times we shared both personally and professionally. Jim’s sense of humour was second to none which helped to cut the stress of our professional careers. He will be deeply missed, however I have many great memories that bring a smile. Very sorry for your loss Arlene and Jeff. Sincerely John and Dina Laughlin
