Jane A. Kriser
October 17, 1925 ~ July 5, 2012
Jane A. Kriser, of Vienna, VA died on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Inova Loudoun Hospital. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and is the only child of Edith and Gustave Ericson. She graduated from Erasmus Hall High School, where she met her husband to be in her freshman year. Jane was the Class Secretary. She attended Columbia University Teachers College where she earned both a Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Early Childhood Education.
Jane married Lieutenant Junior Grade Louis Kriser, USN, a Naval Aviator, on June 16, 1951. She taught K thru 3 classes for about forty-seven years, wherever Lou was assigned while she was a Navy wife. She was a Principal at Quonset Point, RI, and started a school at Annapolis, MD. She retired from teaching after a seventeen-year stretch in the Fairfax County school system.
Jane's a golfer of sorts. She chaired the women's nine-hole golf group at Army Navy Country Club. Her claim to fame is depicted on the license plate on her car, PUTTS-1. She has the uncanny ability to sink a putt from just about any distance without first scouting the contour of the green. She just steps up to the ball, and hits it. Jane liked to play cards and do crossword puzzles. She still does a mean Lindy Hop. Her favorite lunch is soup followed by ice cream.
Jane is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Capt. Louis Kriser, USN (Ret.), devoted children, Jill Allyson (William) Turner and James Leland Kriser and cherished granddaughter Lindy Campbell Turner.
. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Louis and Jane Kriser Scholarship Fund, Tailhook Educational Foundation, 9696 Businesspark Ave., San Diego, CA 92131-1643.
