Jean T. McFarland (77) of Fairfax, Virginia entered eternal rest on Sunday, July 16, 2023, after a long illness.

Jean is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 55 years Charles McFarland, sister-in-law Carol McFarland, daughter Jennifer McCaughey (Pete), son Steven McFarland (Julee), her grandchildren SGT Thomas McCaughey (22) USMC, Emma McCaughey (18) and Megan McFarland (12).

Jean was born on May 19, 1946, to Paul and Nelia Tamkin in Washington, D.C. After graduating from Washington and Lee High School in 1964, Jean went on to study nursing at The University of Virginia. In 1965, Jean met Charles T. McFarland, they wed in 1968 and went on to have two children.

Jean started her nursing career in 1969 at Fairfax Hospital. After taking time off to raise her children, Jean finished her nursing career as an Occupational Health Nurse at Navy Federal Credit Union retiring in 2015.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Nelia Tamkin and her Aunt, Ruth Bowers.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, and friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

  7. Condolences to Jean’s family. I have many memories of such a sweet lady and friend. I had an issue with my knee locking and Jean sat with me at my desk comforting me until my husband arrived.
    After retiring I contacted Jean by phone just to see how she was doing. She will surely be missed.
