Born in: Washington, District of Columbia
Resided in: McLean, Virginia

Jeanette Pierce, known to many as “Jeannie”, peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, with family by her side at INOVA Fairfax Hospital from complications of a respiratory illness. She was born in Washington D.C. to Bertha and Julius Jalickee.

Beginning her 50 plus years in the technology field as the only female mathematics major in her graduating class, Jeannie went on to work on many important projects such as coding for Nasa’s Wallops Island launches. She continually found ways to mentor women entering the technology arena and encouraged their involvement throughout her successful and long career.

Jeannie also enjoyed travel, cooking, reading, and was always involved with various craft projects. Her original and creative Christmas ornaments delighted friends and family members each year. At their encouragement she published a book “Handmade Christmas Ornaments”, in 2021.

Jeannie was predeceased by her parents and brother John Jalickee. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joe Pierce; her three children: Jennifer Kelley (Brian Kelley), JoAnna Pierce, and Jaclyn Pierce: her beloved granddaughter Pierce Kelley; her sister Judith Northrup, sister-in-law Cindy Jalickee, along with many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Jeannie was loved and respected by all for her incredibly positive outlook on life, resiliency, kindness, and wit.

A celebration of life service will be held in 2024. Please visit her Memorial Site, www.jeanniepierce.com,to share memories, photos and receive details on her celebration of life service.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to Women in Technology-Empowering Girls & Women in STEAM https://mywit.org/ or a charity of your choice will honor Jeannie’s interests by giving back to others.
