Joe was born on May 29, 1929, in Washington DC, as the youngest of six children to George and Marie Mihm. He graduated from St. John’s College High School and spent 4 years in the United States Air Force. After the Air Force, Joe attended Wilson Teachers College. In 1958, he met the love of his life, Janet Hatton, and the two married on September 6, 1958.
