It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Julie Cathryn (Cat) Ramsay of Fairfax, Virginia on December 10, 2023. She passed peacefully with her daughters Mia Shapiro and Sasha Shapiro by her side. Cat was born in Milwaukee, WI to Harry and Mollie Plotkin on May 26, 1939. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother Phil Plotkin. She had been a resident of the DC/VA area since 1960.
Cat was an early pioneer in the field of art therapy receiving a Masters in Art Therapy from GWU in the early 1970s. She was a dedicated artist devoted to working with kids as a special education teacher (art therapist) in the Fairfax County Schools. Cat was an active participant in the Friends of Bill W community developing lifelong meaningful friendships.
Cat’s smile, laughter and generous spirit will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

It’s hard to realize that I can no longer just pick up the phone and have Cathryn at the other end. We had a long history together, some of which only she and I would talk about and do some serious laughing. You really had to be there. She will be missed by me, for sure.
