Julie Clemente

November 21, 1963 ~ January 19, 2024
Resided in:
McLean, Virginia
It is with great sadness that the family of Julie Clemente share her passing on January 19, 2024 at her home in McLean, VA. After a brief but aggressive battle with cancer that began just before Christmas, she passed away with her husband, Dan, and two daughters, Natalie and Samantha, by her side.
To say Julie was an incredible lady is an understatement. She had an insatiable thirst for knowledge, was a lover of music and art, and was famous in the neighborhood for her rose garden.
Julie had a successful career building a variety of businesses and took pride in her community involvement. She was named Lady Fairfax and received the Volunteer of the Year award in 2004, and also received the Community Champion award from Volunteer Fairfax in 2012. In 2010, she was appointed Trustee Council Member for the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation; in 2011, she was appointed Commissioner of the Virginia Port Authority.
They say that at the end of the day, people remember not what you do but the way that you made them feel, and she was the embodiment of that sentiment. Julie was a giver through and through. She gave with her time, she gave with her wisdom, she gave with her support and encouragement, and she gave with her love. She treated everyone she met with respect and decency, and she always left you with a warm and contagious smile. Julie lives on through the things she gave to all of us.
Per Julie’s request, there will be no funeral or celebration of life and her immediate family will host a private remembrance in the months to come. To honor Julie, her family ask that you extend a kind act to someone on her behalf – be it a quick phone call to check in on a friend, acknowledgement of a small but meaningful milestone, or random act of kindness to a stranger. Treat people the way you want to be treated.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Clemyjontri Playground Clemyjontri https://fairfaxparkfoundation.org/donate-2/ is Virginia’s first all-inclusive playground in McLean that Julie was passionate about and actively involved with. While Clem is shared with both names, “Clem” in this instance refers to the children (Carolyn and Emily) of Adele Lebowitz who generously donated the land to Fairfax County, not Clemente.
She will be profoundly missed.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. – “Desiderata” by Max Ehrmann (1927)
So grateful to be part of the CDC Holiday Celebration to share laughs, love, and friendship. I am confident that her bright spirit that illuminated our world will continue to beam beyond.
May you find comfort in the memory of her joys. Kindly,
May your memories and the outpouring of love hold you up, and may she rest in peace.
I’m so saddens by this new but I’m grateful we got to have one last memory of making her feel beautiful in her home. Julie you will be missed and forever my VIP.
