I had Mr. Piercy as a PE teacher at Park View back in the 90’s. He was by far my favorite teacher. Always laughing and joking with his students. I was so sad to hear of his passing. I wish I were living in Sterling still so I could pay my respects. Prayers to his family. Jennifer Stahl Poenitske
RIP, Coach. Thanks for the talks and the wrestling classes. Prayers to his family.
RIP Mr. Piercy….you always said hello to me in the hall…and said have a good day! You will be missed!!!
Mack was my friend. I cannot properly express how much impact he had on my life. He was so dedicated to his profession, sport and family. I told someone once that I thought he was the only person I had ever known that I had never heard anything bad said about. He was a devoted family man and a better friend than most of us will find. I know he is in God’s hands.
Mack was a wonderful teacher and coach for so many students over the years. My thoughts are with Ginger and his beloved family.
No more pain!!! Praise the Lord! Though you will be sorely missed by many, you will be remembered with much love and respect as our teacher, coach and friend. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Such fond memories—thank you for teaching me to drive when my own father did not have the courage.
I was a substitute teacher for Mack, both before and after he found out he was sick. He was a class act and an all around solid guy. Praise God for his life and the legacy he leaves behind. My prayers go out to his family.
Mack was an all-round great guy and Coach….RIP
Mr. Piercy was my old pe and drivers ed teacher. i hated both classes but he gave me a reason to always show up with his jokes and just all around kindness. even after i no longer had him as a teacher he always remembered me and acknowledged me in the halls. he has taught me much more than any other teacher i have ever had both in the classroom and in life, you will be truly missed Mr. Piercy but i’m happy you’re now in a better place with no pain and just love
Mr. Piercy was my favorite PE teacher and I have told stories about him to my own kids over the years. I was very sad to hear of his passing and I am sure he will continue to inspire from up above.
I designed at least three home additions and remodeling projects for the Piercy’s over the past 12 years or so and can truely count it a blessing to have know Mack for those years. He also taught some of my children during their Parkview High years. Mack was a most caring person and I consider him to be in a class above most every client who I have accomplished design work for in my career. Our firm also built those 3+ projects for Mack and Ginger and it was a blessing to me every time I received another phone call from Mack stating that he wanted to have more work accomplished. I counted those opportunities as privledges knowing the character of the man who I would be “again” working with and for. I’m sorry for Ginger, Alexandra, Kayla and the rest of Macks family and I know they, and I, will greatly miss him here. He is now with his loving Creator and Lord (Jesus Christ) and knowing, that gives me great comfort.
RIP Coach Piercy. I never had him as a coach or teacher but like Ms. Dugger said it “you never heard a bad thing about him, never heard any complaints about his coaching or teaching” He was just one of those great people that touched so many lives, young and old. He will be greatly missed by all.
R.I.P. Coach Piercy. You were a great coach but an awesome man. God Bless you and your family. PVHS 93′
Thank you so much. you teaching had a profound reach whether you knew it our not. I was privileged to have you as a teacher, but even more privileged to know you as a man. Thank you for being dedicated all these years in educating the importance of right and wrong within the teenage society. I will miss you dearly.
RIP Coach, I’m not sure if I was ever able to live up to the example you set for all of us, but I strive every day to use what you taught me those four years at Park View. You were my coach, but more importantly you were my mentor. You more than anyone else besides my father taught me what it was to be a man. I’ll never forget you as long as I live. God Bless you and your family!
RIP Coach Piercy, you were a Great coach. I remember the days when you use to push me to be a better wrestler and most important to be a better person. I know God will bless you because you touch many lives. My condolences goes out to your family and you will be truly missed.
RIP Mr Piercy, you were a great friend, teacher, rolemodel for me an all athlete’s at pvhs…I remember you would always try to get me to join the wrestling team an I regretfully never did but I admired your persistence. God bless you for everything you did an stood for we will miss you!

R.I.P. Coach Piercy. You were a great coach and mentor. You taught me not only to be a better player but also a better person.
Mack was one of the sweetest guys I knew in school. I will always remember the fun times that we all had at OFS. Now we know he is no more pain and with God. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his Family. Marsha Peebles Kampman OFS Class of ’70

Coach Piercy made a positive difference to so many young people, me included. We are so blessed to have had him as a role model. RIP Coach. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Piercy and the girls. God bless you all.
RIP MR PIERCY
Coach, thank you for having the time and the patience to teach us. I have thought about you often through the course of my life. Other than my father you were easily the most influential person of my young life. The lessons you taught me, that actions speak louder than words, that a little humility is a good thing and that being a leader has a lot more to do with how you treat people and lot less about telling them what do, will never be forgotten. Yes coach, whether you knew it or not, we were listening and we learned. Thank you.
I am deeply saddened by Coach Piercy’s passing. I will never forget when he took me to get my very 1st pair of wrestling shoes because I could not afford them my self. His firm but fair methods of teaching were very instrumental in my formative years, and I will never forget him.
RIP Mr Piercy. I will always remember your kind, firm, fair ways of teaching. Thank you. To the family I send my condolances.
Rest in peace, Mr. Piercy. I was fortunate enough to have had him as a PE and behind-the-wheel teacher. His patience and good humor were limitless. He will be missed!
Rest in peace, Mr. Piercy. I was fortunate enough to have had him as a PE and behind-the-wheel teacher. His patience and good humor were limitless. He will be missed!
Coach, You ARE the best coach I’ve ever had, your Strength of Character and Leadership are unparalleled. Your impact on my life as well as many others is truly amazing. Growing up and meeting so many other people in my lifetime, I can honestly say, They don’t make them like you any more. Your legacy will live on in all of us. You will never be forgotten….
So sorry to hear updates of Mack’s illness. I enjoyed working with Mack at SMS and PV. He was always friendly and helpful. A steady and true teacher. His students were fortunate to have his influence. Heart and prayers go out to his wife and two daughters at a final difficult time. May your hearts be blessed to have known him.
We express our deepest sympathies to Ginger and the whole family in the loss of Mack. God bless you all and we will keep you in our prayers. Rev. Ted Harvey and Family.
It was a pleasure knowing you and for the short time we are all here we were blessed to have you as a friend and the family man you were. May God bless your family.
Mack was such a good guy and was always there for me, especially I remember when I was a new coach a Stone Bridge he was always such a rock that I could rely on when I needed anything.
Mr. Piercy, Style and dignity. I was influenced by you to join this prorfession. Thank You
Mr Piercy was a great teacher and coach. You will be sorely missed.
Dear Ginger, Alexandra and Kayla, My heart is heavy with sadness upon learning of Mack’s passing. Please know that in this time of loss, my thoughts and prayers for peace are with you all. If there is anything that your Merritt Academy family can do to provide comfort or support, please do not hesitate to let us know. With love, Amy Pernick
If there was a photo of “just a great guy” in the dictionary you would find the picture of Mack . . . . . . . you will be missed by many who had the pleasure of working and knowing you! Coach Simms
Piercy Family, My deepest condolences. Mac was a co-worker of mine several years ago and was always the most kind and helpful man. We are all sadened by your loss. I pray that God will comfort you and see you through.
Coach Piercy you will be missed. It was an honor to know you.
A tremendous human being. Was always a pleasure to talk to and I always listended to his words of wisdom. As a young coach at Park View – I admired and respected him more than he knew. The world lost a wonderful father, educator, coach and friend.
Thoughts and prayers to Mr. Piercy’s family and friends. One of the best teachers to ever teach at Park View…You will be missed.
To a great educator who made PE class even more fun than I always thought it was. You will be missed. Blessings to your family.
May you rest in peace Mr. Piercy! Your impact was clearly felt by your students and others long after they/we graduated from Park View. That’s a clear measure of the kind of person you were.
Mack and I were colleagues at the weekly department chair meetings for Stone Bridge HS for many years. I remember Mack as a thoughtful and caring leader who always put the students ahead of himself. I will miss him dearly.
In honor or a great coach, teacher, and most of all a great person. No frills, shoot it straight, old school guy who wasn’t afraid to laugh once in awhile…The kind of guy who should be molding young men on their way to adulthood. They don’t make them like Mac Piercy anymore. Rest in Peace, Coach.
Thanx for being their for us kids. No greater purpose is their then the selflessness of being a teacher and coach in the pursuit of helping young people. The great MACK Piercy……..Thank You
Mr. Peircy you were one of my favorite teachers at Park View. You were always kind and had such a friendly smile and a funny joke. You were such a sweet man. I’m saddened by your passing, but I’m glad you are no longer ill.
Mr Piercy was my Drivers Ed & PE Teacher @ PVHS. I was saddened to hear of his passing. He was one of the kindest people I have ever met. Always a smile and a kind word. He has impacted many of his students over the years. I am honored to have known him. Condolonces to his wife, children, and family.
Coach Piercy was more than a wrestling coach, he taught many young men how to face life’s challenges and succeed in the face of adversity. He was a “Life Coach” before anyone knew what that was.
Thank you for your guidance and leadership. You helped make men of us boys. I’ll always be grateful that you were my teacher and coach. Thoughts and prayers to your family. Mark Harman Class of 98
To the Piercy Family, I had the pleasure to work with Mack at Stone Bridge High School. He was always so sweet and kind to all he met. I will never forget that he came to see me before I retired from LCPS in Aug 2012. Thankfully, Mack has gone to a glorious place we all hope to see one day. He will be missed by many that he touched. My heart and prayers go out to the family. Rest In Peace, Mack.
As you have become an Angel of God, you will tell the Children of Newtown, CT how much we have thought about them. You were great with all of us kids, Now adults…May your family be relieved in your wonderful memories
Two years ago, I had the stomach flu. I wont go into details, but it was practically horrible. On the second day of my sickness, my brother came back from school and told me this story: “I was walking down the hallway when Mr. Piercy came up to me and asked where you were and that he didn’t see you today. I told him that you were really sick and he said, “Well tell her to get better and that she is being missed.”” Mr. Piercy has always been incredibly kind to me and has always managed to make me smile. I grew incredibly fond of him. This year, my heart broke every time I saw him slowly walking down the hallways. Although I didn’t know and still don’t know what had happened, I just knew something was wrong. I’m glad that he is no longer in pain, but words can’t describe how much I miss him. He was one of the most loveable teachers I knew and, personally, was one of my favorite people in the world. God bless him and his family this Christmas. They absolutely deserve it.
Mr. Piercy was my gym teacher last year! he loved all of his students. always saying hi to us in the hallway. he was the only teacher that would let me sit out. (sometimes) my heart goes out to his family! he was loved by everyone!
PVHS was my first teaching/athletic training job out of college (1990). I learned so much from the PVHS staff and coaches. Budget cuts loomed and it was time to RIF staff. Coach Piercy and I were both given RIF papers. His RIF was eventually “cancelled” but not mine. He showed great compassion and concern and at the same time he provided humor and a positive outlook for my job concerns. We often talked about students, athletes, teaching, etc. He is truly an educator and it is a loss to the education profession. To his family, please find comfort in what a great person he is.
I pray your family has a lot of peace during this difficult time. You were a great man!
Ginger and family: It has been many years since seeing you and Mack. Like you, he was always such a nice and friendly guy. So many here in Chesapeake are remembering him from our OFS High School days. There is comfort to know that he is with his Savior. May God hold you and comfort you and your family during this most difficult time. Blessings, Bonnie & Jerry
It has been a pleasure working with Mack the last 13 years. He was a great mentor, confidant and friend. My thoughts and prayers are with Ginger, Alexandra and Kayla in this time of need. He will be greatly missed
Coach Piercy, He will be missed greatly. He was the definition of a great teacher and football coach. He cared for his students and players. I will never forget the knuckle, fingertips, and triangle pushups that he would make us do. RIP Coach Piercy!!
I had the pleasure of knowing Mack first as a student at PVHS, then as a colleague at SBHS. He will be missed by us all. I often looked to him for guidance at our weekly department chair meetings and he always promised to get my work done for me! What a beautiful man! Rest in peace, Mack!
Coach Piercy – you will be dearly missed by countless number of people. You were a positive and great role model for us all. The Piercy family will be in my families prayers.
Coach, may you now rest in peace eternally. You were a great friend, coach, and person. I thank you for being such an inspiration to me. Heaven gained another angel on December 18. Our loss is heaven’s gain. You and my sister, Deb, are probably reminiscing about the good “ole” days of Park View Wrestling. I know when its time for me to join you, I’ll be in great company. God bless you my friend, and forever mentor.
Mack, I always enjoyed sharing a story and a laugh with you. I consider myself fortunate to have worked with you in the short time I have been at Stone Bridge. I always had great respect in the way you treated all Stone Bridge students and athletes. I knew from the beginning you were an individual who was never interested in the spotlight, just to get the job done right. Your presence will be missed. The Stone Bridge Family has lost a very important member! My condolences goes out to your Family. May you suffer no more.
I dont even know how to begin….you coached me in both sports and life. Then you mentored me as a young coach and teacher. Part of what I am today is because of you….how do you say thanks for that? I will cherish the memories of working with you at PVHS and SBHS…mostly our conversations about our kids, our faith, and our families. I grieve for Ginger and the kids, but I know you are with God. Thanks Coach…I will miss you my friend!!!
A fierce competitor as a coach, a gentle man, a teacher who was a professional in every sense of the word, a friend and colleague who was always positive and never had a negative thing to say about anyone. I was and am proud to call Mack friend. Eevshared much in the “golden years ” of PVHS! RIP my friend.
Ginger – Mack was your best friend and true love – nothing can take that away. He will live on in your heart forever. Alexandra and Kayla – I know the many memories of your Dad will help you through this tough time. You can honor his memory by continuing to lead a life of everything he taught you — a love of God, patience and kindness. You are all in our thoughts, Paula, Brian and Kevin Shannon
RIP Coach, May God Bless your family and hold them closer during this time and I am grateful you are not sick anymore.
It was so sad to hear of Mack’s passing. It’s been many years since I’ve seen Mack but I remember what a wonderful person he was. Prayers go out to all of his family.
Certainly, as a Stone Bridge alumini one can never forget those who had made an impact on their daily lives. Mr. Piercy was the type of person who one could look as not only as a friend but also as an extrodinary mentor. I remember when I had taken physical education class and although he was never assigned as my specifc teacher, we still managed to build a rapport. Mr. Piercy was the type of man who always had a smile and could make one laugh even in a tough environment setting such as a high school. My condolences goes out to the piercy family and survivors. Thank you Mr. Piercy for taking the time to put a smile on my face. God bless and may you rest in peace for you are in a far better place now.
Rest in peace Mack! I will truly miss my great neighbor! You were always there for me when Marty had problems and did so many things to help. Your smiling face and concern for others will be missed.
Mr. Piercy will forever be remembered as a great teacher with a huge smile on his face. Mr. Piercy was never my assigned teacher for Physical Education class, however he and I always had a friendly banter going on. He loved to bop me on the head when he would see me in the halls, followed by a huge smile. I’ll always look back on my High School years and think of him. Great man indeed!
I’ll always have fond memories of Coach Piercy down in the PVHS weight room working with kids, showing them the proper technique – being a leader, example and mentor for them. While that was many years back, it obviously didn’t change over the years based on the memory postings I’ve read. Mac’s leadership and guidance will live on in many former students, no doubt. May he rest in peace knowing the influence and impact he had on so many. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with Ginger, Alexandra, Kayla and all of the family at this time.
Rest in Peace Mac I came to Stonebridge with 28 years in teaching yet in the 4 years I worked with you I learned more than in the first 28. You were a great mentor and a better friend. I will miss you greatly.
gnger,i just heard,my prays to you and your two daughters.mack was a good person and friend.may god bless you and your family.rip mack.
Coach Piercy your legacy will always be remembered and cherished. Truly an amazing human being, teacher, coach, and mentor. May God rest your soul and comfort your family during this time of loss.
Mr. Piercy was a special individual. I marveled at how on a daily basis he was always able to see the good in just about any situtation. He treated everyone with dignity and respect and he helped make Stone Bridge High School a special place. I will miss him.
May you rest in a better place coach. I will never forget him saying “C’mon Bour!” when I was slacking in class. Coach still remains a role model to me. God bless him and his family.
I was a student of his at Park View. I was in the 1998 graduating class. Mr. Piercy was one of my favorite teachers. He always had a smile on his face and made every class fun! I am very sorry for your loss! My prayers go out to the family! Amanda (Brittle) Haines
Mack, Goodbye my dear friend. Keep those other Angels in line and make sure they exercise! I’ll miss our conversations with each other. I know you are at peace. Love, Rosemary
I am truly grateful for the time Coach Piercy invested in all of us as a coach and mentor. He always had words of encouragement and brought out the best in us even when we didn’t think we had it to give. He touched many lives and I am blessed to be one of them. My prayers go out to his family as he will surely be missed.
Ginger, I was saddened to hear of Mack’s passing. You and your girls are in my thoughts and prayers. I remember Mack as a considerate “upper classman” who always had a kind smile for anyone he met.
Ginger and family, we are so very saddened to hear about Mack. He was one of the nicest and friendliest guys we have ever known. We can remember all the Sunday afternoons we were at his house on Hemple St., Chesapeake, Va, playing volleyball with him, Pam, Mr. and Mrs. Piercy, and others. Those are memories that are priceless and will never be forgotten. We had some wonderful times growing up together. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Estelle (Fentress) Todd Nancy Fentress
Coach Piercy will always be remembered as an awesome coach, mentor, teacher, and father figure. Someone whom I’ve always looked up to and will always remember. His humility, leadership through example, and positive attitude had an influence on my childhood and I am blessed for having coach Piercy in my life. Thank you for all your years of dedication and hard work coach! May you rest in peace.
Ginger, We are so sorry to hear about Mack. He was a wonderful man. After reading through the other messages in this guestbook, with letters from all over the country, it was obvious the positive and profound effect Mack had on so many lives. Our thoughts and love are with you and your girls.
seding prayers to mr piercys famliy
My first rememberance of Mac was in JV Football summer practice at OFS 1968. They gave him the the last and uglies practice uniform you could get. Helmet didn’ t fit, shoulder pads to big.Once practice started I think he hit everything that moved and went on to be one of the best we had lb. for lb. I saw his picture the other day in our OFS annual where he was receiving the Game Ball for MVP OF Homecoming.Tiger Heart on the field and a gentleman off. Ginger you know you married the best when your Dad smiled when you ask how Mac & Ginger were doing? You and your family only the best in the future.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family coach. A man that didnt have to say a word just walk into a locker room of boys clowning around and just look at you and everyone stopped and sat down. That was the type of respect coach had around PVHS. It was not something he demanded it was just how everyone looked up to coach. I never heard any player or wrestler have anything to say about coach other than respect. I know his wrestlers would have run through a wall for coach. That is the positive influence he had on students. We will never know how many young lives he affected in a positive way. Rest in peace coach.
Rest in peace Coach! You leave a legacy of strong character, honor, hard work, and commitment! You are truly a respected and successful teacher, coach, father, husband, and friend! But most of all- you are a man of God and now have gone home. I pray for your family’s loss as you will be missed, but I am also at peace knowing you are no longer suffering! Thanks for the friendship and all of the PVHS memories! You fought the good fight!
To the man who taught me the values of working hard to get what you want. You will be greatly missed by many people. You have made an impact on everyones lives you were near, and may god rewards you for your values.RIP coach
My prayers are with your family, Coach. You were a great teacher and beloved by many. You were able to relate with all ages and people. You touched a lot of people and your family must be proud. Thank you for your kind words.
I only knew Mr. Piercy for a short time this year and even the short time I knew him, I knew he was a great teacher and a respected member of the Stone Bridge Family. I am glad he is suffering no more. My condolences to his family. Thank you Mr. Piercy.
Mr. Piercy was a smart, motivational, inspirational, and dedicated teacher. He left a lasting legacy that has inspired every student at Stone Bridge High School. From learning how to shoot a basketball to learning how to get out of dangerous situations while driving, we all learned so much from his class. He will be deeply missed. Your family is in my thoughs and prayers. Love, Cara Alcorn
Celebrating a life well lived. I have know Mack since 1985 and will cherish the memories forever. He is a man of character. We are all better individuals for having known Mack. God bless you Ginger, Alexandra and Kayla.
Bruce and I send our deepest condolences. Illness kept us from attending the funeral today. We were so happy to see Mack at the Hall of Fame inductions in September. As difficult as this time is for the family, know that he is with God and once again healthy. He will continue to watch over you, Ginger, and your girls and will always be there in your hearts as he is in the hearts of those who knew him. We pray for strength for you as you grieve the loss.
GINGER & FAMILY, YOU ARE TRULY BLESSED BY THE LOVE OF A PHENOMENAL, KIND, & GENTLE HUSBAND & FATHER; HIS CHARACTER REVEALS “A TRUE MAN OF GODLY STRENGTH & WISDOM”! PRAYING GOD WILL MANIFEST “HIS” SWEETEST PEACE & LOVE THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING TO EACH OF YOUR HEARTS! I JUST HEARD LATE THIS EVENING. WE ARE NEVER EVER READY TO DEPART WITH OUR LOVED ONES; HOWEVER, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO WATCH THEM SUFFER IN PAIN. MACK IS NOW IN A GLORIFIED BODY WITH JESUS & OTHER LOVED ONES & FRIENDS! IN HEAVEN, THERE IS NO MORE SORROW, TEARS, OR PAIN! I THINK OF YOU OFTEN, GINGER. I REMEMBER YOUR BIRTHDAY EVERY YEAR, OCT. 8TH. KINDA WILD, HUH? ONLY MEANS YOU HAVE BEEN SPECIAL TO ME & HAVE TOUCHED MY HEART IN MANY WAYS! I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU & SEE YOU & MEET YOUR GIRLS! ALL MY LOVE & PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU & MAY YOU FIND YOUR RESTING PLACE IN JESUS! LOVE YA, BETTY ANNE
I feel there is very little I can say that everyone does not already know about Mack Piercy. I coached football with Mack for 19 years at Park View High School and he was truly an asset to the football and wrestling programs as well as the school as a whole. He was on the ground floor of establishing the excellent reputation that both of those programs enjoyed. Mack took his job very seriously and encouraged academic as well as athletic success and was a great role model for the athletes and students alike. Mack had been my roommate, a colleague, and one of my best friends. In addition to that, as everyone who knew him knows, he was a great husband and father. Mack I miss you and promise to help Ginger and the girls as much as we can. Jim Chrisman
Prayers to your family on this Christmas…My son loved having you for a teacher. You were a great person and will be missed..
I hope that the fond memories shared with Mack will eventually bring peace and comfort to all his family members and friends. From Vicki Cartos, OSHS classmate and the “other Safety Ambassador.”
I am saddened to hear that Mac has passed away and sadder still to hear that he had been ill. He was instrumental in helping me set up and continue the Sterling Junior Wrestling Club and my son was fortunate to wrestle for him while at Park View High. I am sure he will have great reward for his effort on earth.
I was so sorry to hear of Mack’s passing. I was one of the team members for the Hearing and Vision team. It was always such a pleasure to go to Stonebridge HS. Mack always had coffee and doughnuts for us and made sure we were taken care of. He always spoke so proud of his family. I have been blessed to know him. God Bless you.
Ginger, Alexandra and Kayla: I learned only yesterday that Mack passed away. It saddened me more than you can imagine. I know what a wonderful, generous, husband, father and person Mack was. I hope that you are leaning on each other, friends and family to get through this very tough spot. And, I hope that with time, you will be able to celebrate all the wonderful times you had with Mack, such that the thought of him brings only smiles and joy. My very sincerest condolences. Heather Bardot
