Lewis Richard Caveney

Lewis Richard Caveney died on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at his home in Reston, VA, with his loving wife by his side. Lewis enlisted in the Marine Corps July of 1945 and completed boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina. He took a world cruise on the aircraft carrier USS Valley Forge from October 1947 to June 1948. He was deployed to Korea on March 31, 1998 and was awarded the Purple Heart for combat wounds received in action during 1953. Lewis was Honorably Discharged August 1957 with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He completed his career with the Federal Government in Computer Facilities Management at the Executive Office of the President.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joy Caveney; devoted brother of Isobel Duddleston and several cherished nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers contributions may be offered in Lewis' memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.

Dick helped me out on several occasions in my life when I needed it. He was a wonderful friend with a big heart and a great sense of humor.
We all have lost a very fine gentleman. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. He will dearly be missed.
