Lilian Callaghan Hawley, 98, former representative for Elizabeth Arden cosmetics and long-time resident of Vienna, Virginia, died January 17, 2017, at Fairfax Inova Hospital. Born in Bradford, England, on October 10, 1918, she became the cherished wife of Charles Walter Hawley, an American fighter pilot in World War II.

Lilian wasas her husband often called hera spitfire, always whip smart and full of British dry wit. She loved people, and she loved to laugh. Her enjoyment of film and novels had a lasting influence on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hawley's first daughter, Noreen, died in 1987. Her survivors include her husband, daughters Trish Perry and Donna Hawley, sons John and Chris Hawley, grandson Tucker Perry, granddaughter Stevie (Doug) Theoharis, and great-grandchildren Bronx Burkart and Vinny Theoharis. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Vienna on February 11 at 11:00 am.
