Lisa Marie Poff
October 5, 1959 ~ August 31, 2022
Lisa Poff, of Vienna, VA, joined the Lord after a 16-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Lisa passed in her home, holding the hands of her husband and daughter.
Lisa was born on October 5, 1959 in Victorville, California to Anella and Christopher Shaffer. She attended Pennsylvania State University and California State University, Northridge where she majored in political science and journalism. Lisa met James (Jim) Poff in Los Angeles, CA. The two fell in love and were married on October 8, 1988. Lisa and Jim moved to San Diego where they welcomed their daughter, Kelley in 1992. In 1993 a job change for Jim brought the family to the east coast where they could be closer to Lisa’s family.
Lisa was an attentive and loving stay at home mom for 12 years after Kelley was born. Lisa reentered the workforce as an executive assistant at a financial planning firm. In the years that followed, her determination, ambition, and work ethic afforded her great success in the wealth management field. In 2018 she joined The Colony Group as the Chief Marketing Officer and later accepted the invitation to become a partner at the firm.
Lisa showed her love through cooking. She could often be found in her kitchen, preparing elaborate dishes such as duck confit, beef wellington, or gazpacho for her friends and family to enjoy. Lisa loved to travel and was always in the midst of planning elaborate, once in a lifetime adventures to destinations like Paris, Barcelona, and Italy. Lisa could be found running the W&OD trail, attending concerts at Wolf Trap, or hosting friends and family with Jim by the fire pit on the back deck at home in Vienna.
Lisa was known for her generous and warm spirit. Her optimistic and uplifting presence will be greatly missed. Lisa brought encouragement and joy to every life she touched.
She is survived by Jim, husband of 33 years, daughter Kelley, Mother Anella, sister Yvonne, brothers John and Alan, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Christopher Shaffer.
A memorial service will be held for Lisa at Vienna Presbyterian Church on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 2pm. The online guestbook is available at www.moneyandking.com
