Maria Morales-Hankins of Aldie, Virginia passed away on February 8th, 2022 after battling Covid Pneumonia. She was born in Washington, D.C. to Luis Morales and June Irene Morales. Maria attended T.C. Williams High School class of ‘82. Immediately after graduating she entered the workforce in the DC metropolitan area where she eventually met the love of her life in 1987, her husband David Hankins. They got married in 1993 and had their first son Matthew in 1994. In 2000 they had their second son, Joshua.

Maria was loved by all. She loved her family, her job and especially her cats. She loved to sing and to dance. She was the life of any party she attended. She could party with the best of them. In the summer she was either tending to her garden or somewhere at the beach, just relaxing in the sun. In the winter she loved to be in her home with her cats and her family by the fireplace. She loved live music and went to every concert she could get tickets to. Her family and friends were what she lived for, and she always put them before herself.

Maria was preceded in death by her loving husband Conway David Hankins and her beloved mother June Morales. She is survived by two sons Matthew and Joshua, her father Luis Morales and her two brothers Luis and Michael. She has three nephews Anthony Pizzo, Gavin Grice, and Kris Vogel.

Maria will always be remembered as a caring and unselfish person who always put her family and friends before herself. Her sons were her pride and joy, and her generous spirit will carry on within them. She was the best mother anyone could ever ask for and will be missed by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to Maria’s Life Celebration at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., on Friday, March 11 from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Vienna Presbyterian Church, 124 Park St., NE, on Saturday, March 12 at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Fairfax Memorial Park.

Guestbook

  1. I have known Maria since Sep 2007. She was a great neighbor. Always smiling and talking about things around the neighborhood. May she rests in peace.

  2. I have known Maria since I was a kid when my big brother brought her home to meet the family years ago. Maria was always a kind and sweet and easy to talk to. She cared deeply and loved unconditionally. She was the best mom anyone could ask for. She raised two wonderful sons that turned into great men. Whenever we would visit She always entertained and took care of us and wanted us to have a good time which we always did. I will miss her infectious laugh and smile. Love you Maria ❤️
