Marilyn O. Zabel
September 15, 1941 ~ October 9, 2023
Born in:
Bedford, Quebec
Resided in:
Vienna, Va
Marilyn Zabel of Vienna Virginia passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2023 after an intense,
three-month battle with acute Leukemia. She is the beloved wife of 41 years to Ron Zabel,
loving mother to Mary Laczkovich, and her husband Don Sinclair, and Rudy Laczkovich, and his
wife Mary K , and cherished grandmother of 8 grandchildren, Kat Sinclair, Luke Sinclair, Maisie
Sinclair, Kylee Laczkovich, John Patrick Laczkovich, Molly Laczkovich, Emily Laczkovich, and Brady
Laczkovich.
She was born in Bedford, Quebec to Orian and Edith Bordo, (deceased) having seven brothers
and sisters, five of whom have preceded her in death, and is survived by two younger brothers.
She and her family have lived in Vienna since 1984. Throughout her life Marilyn’s focus flowed
from her strong faith, seeking to be a good steward of all with which God entrusted her. This
was especially reflected in her loving devotion, at every stage of their lives, to the family God
had blessed her with. Marilyn maintained an amazing balance of caring for and being a role
model for her children and grandchildren and their friends while supporting Ron in his Coast
Guard career and post-retirement Christian conciliation ministry. While Marilyn enjoyed
gardening, travelling to enjoy the beauty and wonder of God’s creation and golf, her greatest joy
over the past two decades has been engaging in activities with or involving her grandchildren,
especially in circumstances where she could impart wisdom and training to enhance their lives.
Her life truly revolved around her family for whom she gave 110% of herself.
A memorial service will be held on November 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at Vienna Presbyterian
Church, 124 Park Street NE, Vienna, VA 22180.
Given Marilyn’s love of gardening and talent for having home and yard full of flourishing plants,
shrubs and trees, in lieu of flowers we encourage you to plant something in her honor to
remember her by.

Marilyn was a dear, sweet friend of mine for 25 years.
We met taking golf lessons and six of us became wonderful friends.
‘Wednesday’ was our special day for golf and lunch together.
Marilyn was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them.
Her compassion, generosity, and kindness will be so missed.
My deepest sympathies to Ron and family.
