On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, Mary Catherine Dugan of Oakton, Virginia, passed away. Born on June 20, 1947 in Washington D.C., she attended the Academy of the Holy Names High School in Silver Spring, Maryland, and Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She worked for United Airlines as a reservations agent and later operated her own travel business, Travel Ease. Beloved daughter of Frank and Frances Dugan of Potomac, Maryland, Mary was predeceased by her brother Christopher Dugan (Susan), and is survived by her loving brothers Paul Dugan (Teresa) of Napa, California, and John Dugan (Beth) of Chevy Chase, Maryland. She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, two great-nieces, and many cousins.
In her retirement Mary volunteered at Oakton Library, teaching English as a second language. She loved her dog and cats and was an avid reader and book collector. She was devoted to the care of her mother in her later years and faithful organizer of frequent “cousins lunches” to keep her family in touch. Mary was also a proud Friend of Bill for nearly 40 years.
Memorial service to be announced. Arrangements through Money & King of Vienna, Virginia. Donations suggested to Oakton Library and Fancy Cats & Dogs Rescue Team of Vienna, VA.
I’m just so sorry to hear this news about Mary. She and I were friends during high school at Holy Names. We reconnected last year when I moved back into the area after almost 50 years away. We had lunch a couple of times, and it was so much fun to reminisce. I’ll miss seeing her again after all these years
