Mary Catherine (Hill) McInerney, 80, of Washington, DC and McLean, VA, passed away on July 8, 2011. Born on February 28, 1931, in Moultrie, GA, to Vivian Mae (Monk) Hill and Thomas Dee Hill, she graduated from Valdosta State College (now Valdosta State University), GA, in 1952 and did post-graduate work at Ball State University, IN. She was proud of her work as an elementary school teacher and airline stewardess. She married James E. McInerney, Jr. (Major General, USAF, retired) in 1963 and raised their two children as they travelled around the world with his career in the Air Force. Mary Catherine enjoyed her memberships in P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), which promotes educational opportunities for women; and in Tri Psi, the international sorority for mothers of Tri Delta members. She and her husband, Jim, lived in McLean for the past 33 years and in Washington, DC for the last six months. She is survived by her husband of 48 years; their daughter, Anne, her husband, Earl Comstock, and their daughter, Clare (whom Mary Catherine cherished), of Washington DC; and their son, Jake and his girlfriend, Debbie Seymour of Alexandria, VA. She is also survived by her sister, Glynn, and her husband, Frank Rogier of Evans, GA; and her brother, Donald ("Sonny") Hill of Roswell, GA, whose wife, Musidore, passed away last year. The family will receive friends wishing to pay their respects at the Money and King Funeral Home, 171 Maple Avenue W., Vienna, VA from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on August 1. On August 3, the family will celebrate a funeral Mass for her at The Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity at West Point, NY, where three generations of McInerneys have gathered for weddings and funerals.

  27. My condolences to her family. I just want to share a comforting message about God’s promise that in the near future we will see our dead loved ones again. The book of John chapter 5 verses 28 and 29 says: “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgement.” God promised that the whole earth will be made into a paradise and the dead will have an opportunity to live forever in peaceful and happy conditions.   29. I am so sorry about the passing of Ms. McInerney. She was my 6th grade teacher and was a great teacher. We had so much fun in her class, and I learned a lot from her. I just wanted you to know how many of us appreciated her from her classes. I offer my sympathy to you all.
