Mary F. Barrett

Mary F. Barrett, age 87, of Lakewood, NJ passed away Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Jersey Shore Rehabilitation Center, Eatontown, NJ. Mary was born March 22, 1920 in Ganister, PA. She lived for many years in Washington, DC. She then lived in McLean, VA before moving to Lakewood, NJ 9 years ago. She was a member of Saint Mark's Russian Orthodox Church, Bethesda, MD. She enjoyed traveling, baking, sewing, gardening, bingo and spending time with her family and friends. She was in the Red Cross, serving in Germany during World War II. She worked in the personnel department of the Department of State, Washington, DC before retiring in 1978 after thirty years of service.
She is predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Fitzingo; her husbands John Carl Johnson and Joseph N. Barrett; and her brothers John, Joseph and Frank Fitzingo. Mary is survived by her daughter Tanya Johnsn Schwall of Mantoloking, NJ; a granddaughter Kim Benedetto Arnott and three great-grandchildren, Dominick, Christopher and Nicholas Benedetto of Staten Island, NY; three sisters-in-law, Katie Carins of Ganister, PA, Agnes Swearson of Towner of North Dakota, Ellen NEilson of Casper, WY, a brother-in-law James Barrett of Holmes, PA and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing and service will take place Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 10am from Saint Mark's Russian Orthodox Church, 7126 River Road, Bethesda, MD. Interment will take place Monday, November 19, 2007, 9am at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
