Mary G. Shannon

Mary G. Shannon, (Age 97) of Vienna, VA passed away August 17, 2021. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis W. Shannon, and son, Brian F. Shannon. Survivors are four children, Patricia S. “Pat” Bray, Anne S. Rogers, Kevin J. Shannon and Stephen G. “Steve” Shannon. She also is survived by eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Shannon attended St. Joseph College, Emmitsburg, MD, Georgetown University, and graduated from George Mason University. She retired from the National Science Foundation. Prior to government service she was a teacher. Mrs. Shannon was an active volunteer and choir member at St. Mark Catholic Church. She was an avid gardener and loved to crochet. Visitation will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, 9970 Vale Road, Vienna, VA 22181 on Thursday, August 26, 2021, 11AM to 1PM with Mass of the Resurrection at 1PM. Interment at Quantico National Cemetery Friday, August 27, 2021, 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark Catholic School, Vienna, VA or Catholic Relief Services.
