Mary Lou Krouse
August 2, 1929 ~ August 23, 2017
Mary Lou Krouse, 88, passed away Wednesday, August 23, after a brief period in hospice care.
She was born Aug. 2, 1929, in Fort Dodge, IA. where she attended both high school and junior college. While working in Des Moines, IA, she met Charles A. (Chuck) Krouse and they were married Sept 3, 1954, in the historic Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA.
Over a 63- year period they made their home in Des Moines, Falls Church, VA, Oxfordshire, Eng., Santa Rosa, CA, and Vienna, VA, the latter for more than 50 years.
The couple raised three devoted sons, Matt, Tim and Pete.
Unpretentious, unimpressed by wealth or status, Mary Lou always had time, and hugs, for society's less visible people. Others warmed to her in almost any setting.
She was a devoted member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Vienna, where she was a wedding coordinator and leader of the Charity Circle for 20 years. Her special interests were missions and outreach to the needy.
Mary Lou and her husband attended 24 Road Scholar (formerly Elderhostel) educational/adventure programs for seniors ranging from exploring historic sites in Egypt to hiking glacier trails in Alaska. She made trips to both Cuba and Ecuador for humanitarian causes
Her spoiled 18-year old cat Rocket, the Washington Post crossword puzzle, bridge, quilting, flower gardening, her Thursday Women’s Bible study and the 9-hole lady golfers of Westwood Country Club were special joys. Nothing, however, was more of an obvious pleasure than preparing family dinners for special occasions. Little devotional rituals were often part of her plan.
In her later years, Mary Lou courageously battled many physical challenges, finally succumbing to peritoneal cancer.
Survivors who feel blessed by loving and having been loved by Mary Lou include her husband Charles A., sons Matthew C. (Falls Church), Timothy E. (Dunn Loring), Peter K. (Shaker Heights, OH), daughters-in-law Elizabeth (Shaker Heights), Christine (Dunn Loring) and grandchildren Anna, Maria and Andrew.
Visitation will be at Money & King Funeral Home, Vienna, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wed. Aug. 30, with funeral services at Wesley Methodist Church at 11 AM, Thu. Aug. 31 with a reception at the church to follow. A private burial service will be held following at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax. Contributions may be made to the Wesley mission program.

So sorry for you lost. I hope this scripture can bring the family comfort.John 11:25
Jesus said to her: I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life. Our heavenly father promises us the resurrection of our loved ones. God is a loving and kind God, he can never lie.
