"Lou" Age 84

After a long illness, Lou passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 with family by her side. Originally from Mississippi, Lou moved to Washington, DC in the 1950's, where her children were born. She is survived by her loving children, Terri (Mike) Welch, Vickie (Lee) Dziuk and Michael (Tripp) Highlander.

Lou was a proprietor of Village Green Hair Salon in Vienna, VA which she managed with daughter Vickie for over 30 years. She was a southern belle, a product of her time, who empowered women through her keen sense of style and love of enhancing a woman's natural beauty.

In addition to her children, Lou leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Bobby (Joy) Welch, Sarah (Mike) Sweeney and Andrew (Frances) Dziuk and five great-grandchildren, devoted sister, Katherine Worsham and brother Reese (Janet) Baker along with a host of nieces and nephews. Lou is preceded by husband Len (2007), parents Eula and Omer Baker; siblings Dura Nell Lamb and Donald Baker.

Relatives and friends are invited to Lou's Life Celebration at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Sunday, November 30 from 2-4 PM and where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 1 at 11 a.m. Interment will be private following service.

During that time Mavis had become, like a mother to me, a good friend and a older experienced women that so many times gave me guidance when I needed it. No matter how I felted that day I always left her house feeling happy and loved. I consider it to be a blessing to have had the chance to be apart of her and her loving families life’s. Mavis I know your young again and God loved you so much he called you home. I will cherish your memories until we meet again. All my love to you my good friend.

  3. Dearest Vickie, I remember Lou so well in my many years of coming to Village Green. What a lovely woman and such an independent lady of her time. I pray that you and your family find comfort knowing she is home with our Lord. May she rest in peace.
