  11. Dear Ben,Schulyer and Ben, I am so shocked by the loss of Melissa. We met at the Regency gym when I first moved to Mclean and our children were around 2 years old(Schulyer and Teddy) and 6 months(Ben and Abby). Melissa was my idol!!!! The way she would run on that treadmill!! We lost touch when I left the gym and reconnected when Schulyer and Teddy became friends at Langley (they forgot that they grew up together at the Regency nursery- but Melissa and I didn’t! We laughed about that several times). She still had that spectacular smile and that soft spoken voice. I wish I had spent more time with her. The beautiful family that she leaves—Ben, Schulyer and Ben-is a testament to her goodness. I will keep you in my prayers. Michele Petersen

  28. Dear Family, We learned of Melissa passing on the Eve of Thanksgiving. Efrem shared with us such sad news. I recalled how she shouted out Ben’s name as he swam across a lap during a swim meet. Her beauty stood out at the Hamlet pool as she basked in the sun while her children played nearby. She would help her daughter do her homeworking in one of the Scouts’ meeting. I would see her walk the dogs when I drove by.She certainly made a pleasant impression for all to remember her. We are so sorry for her loss. It is beyond us to understand how this could happen to a young pretty Mom and a loving Wife. May she rest in peace. Sincerely, Gary&Cynthia Efrem Nathan

  29. To Melissa’s Family; my condolence sincerely. Melissa would be here today if it wasn’t for that untrained police officer. Signed, a U.S. MARINE.
