Resided in: Vienna, VA

Michael Anthony “Mike” Magnotti, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend,
business leader and sportsman passed away quietly on September 20, 2024 at his
home in Vienna, Virginia, following an extended battle with cancer (specifically, Synovial
Sarcoma). He was 65 years old.

Mike was a true son of Vienna. He was born in Arlington, Virginia on April 8,
1959 to Louis and Fayrene Magnotti. The family moved to Vienna’s Cherry Street
neighborhood in the early 1960s with Mike’s younger brother, Christopher. Growing up
there in the 1960s and 1970s was a young boy’s dream, making many neighborhood
friendships which lasted throughout his life. Included among those friends was
Christina Olson, the girl across the street, who later would become his wife. Mike
played in the Vienna Youth Football program, an experience that became a cornerstone
in his life. He attended Vienna schools and James Madison High School where he
played football and ran track, always making new friends. Mike attended George
Mason University where he earned his BA degree in Psychology.

Mike and Chris lived in Hawaii for one year and returned to Vienna to wed in
1986. After a brief period living in Gaithersburg, Maryland and Woodbridge,
Virginia, they again returned to Vienna to raise their family. In 1989 Mike realized his
entrepreneurial dream by founding his company, Anthony Appraisers, in Vienna. The
company prospered, and in 2001 the Vienna Chamber of Commerce selected him as
their Business Man of the Year. Always proud of Vienna, Mike continued to make
friends and strongly support and contribute to the growth of his home town throughout
his life.

Mike was a fervent fan and supporter of local youth sports. He served as a
coach in the Vienna Youth Football program and as an assistant commissioner of the
program for several years. Mike also loved playing golf and was a very active member
at Westwood Country Club. He served a term on the Board of Directors during the
expansion of club facilities.

Mike is survived by Chris, his beloved wife of 38 years; mother Fayrene Magnotti
of the home; his children Richard (Sabrina) of Burke, Virginia, Christopher of Houston,
Texas, and Heather Burke (Brandon) of Falls Church, Virginia; and granddaughters
Marleigh Magnotti, Lily Magnotti and Addelyn Burke. He was preceded in death by his
father Louis Magnotti and brother Christopher.

Guestbook

  1. Mike was a longtime friend of mine for over 55 years. He was a Great Man and a Great Friend. That kind of friendship is a real Blessing and hard to find. I will miss him dearly.

  2. Dearest Chris and family,
I am so sorry I was unable to attend the visitation or the service for Mike. I wanted so much to be able to give you a hug in person, Chris, and tell you how sorry I am about Mike’s passing. Please know that you’ve been and will remain in my ongoing prayers for strength and comfort in the days ahead. You are dearly loved and in the hearts of so many friends from Madison, Vienna and beyond. May God’s blessings surround all of you with His perfect love. Kathy (Sedlock) Rogers
