  4. We grew to know Michael through dear friends Lucy and Bill. Michael’s life and talent were cut way too short. May God bless and carry you. Odiorne and Steve Beebe

  5. Helen, No words can take away the pain and sorrow, but hopefully the knowing that your friends and family have you in their thoughts and prayers will help you through this difficult time. Take confort in the faith that Michael is in a better place and is smilling down on the love of his family and the wonderful life you both shared together on this Earth. May you and your children gain strenght in the knowledge and love you all shared and remembering those moments in life that you shared a laugh or a happy moment. Reflecting on our discussions about family I can recall the time you told the story that Michael wanted to be Daniel Boone in your back yard and the events that followed. Keep the memory alive by reliving the funny and happy as well as the sad times. It is in this reflection that we keep our loved ones in our hearts. With our deeepest sorry and prayers, John & Cheryl Borges

  6. Lucy, Bill, Helen and family, Mike is in thoughts and prayers, as are all of you during this time of sorrow. He will be missed as a husband, father, son, and friend.

  10. May your memories become joyful, your days enriched with friendships, and your lives be encircled with the comfort of God’s love.

  11. Our sincerest condolences. My wife, Maggie and I both worked at Woodfin Camp, back when Mike had his photo lab down on F Street. We remember meeting both you and baby Sarah. In recent years, I worked with Mike at USNews & World Report. I was in the Art Department and he was in Photo, but we saw each other regularly in the building. Mike was a great guy, and we had many laughs together. I’ll miss his wry comments and mischevious smile. Our best to you and the kids. Doug Stern (Alexandria, VA)

  12. Helen. Ian, Sarah and Family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Please remember that Michael is in heaven and free of pain and sickness. He will always be with you in your fond memories and within your heart. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

  13. Dear Garrett family, We were so sorry for your loss of Mike. Our thoughts are with you.

  14. To the Garrett family, Mike and Georgianna are very sorry for your loss. We know that Mike will be missed by all. Our prayers are with you and know that he is at peace.

  15. Mike was just the finest person to know and work with. Whether at Garrett Lab or later with us at US News, Mike could always be counted on to bring his “A” game to every issue or problem. He was truly gifted and it was a struggle to even approach his world-class talents. And yet it was no secret that family was first and foremost in his life. Rarely did a day pass at work without a story about Helen or Ian or Sarah or Ken or any of the myriad others who made up his wonderful family life. I am so sorry for your loss; and while there is nothing I can say to ease your pain or grief, be assured that I will cherish Mike’s memory all my own humble life.
