Mildred Lenore Burke

On Friday, May 2, 2008 Mildred Lenore Burke, 85, of Herndon, VA, formerly of Arlington, VA passed into eternal rest at Iliff Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her brother, Hugh F. Burke and sister-in-law Elizabeth Collins Burke, brother-in-law Richard Donald Wood, Sr., and her long time friend and companion John Harley. She is survived by her devoted sister, Mary Burke Wood, seven nieces and nephews Kathleen House (Bill), Hugh Gene Burke (Sigrid), Frederick Burke (Nancy), Cheri Burke-Polana (Guido), Richard Donald Wood, Jr. (Mikey), Barbara W. Eckert (Derek), Robert W. Wood (Cheri), 16 great nieces and nephews, and 12 great-great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Holy Comforter, 543 Beulah Rd. NE, Vienna, VA on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 10:30am. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30-10:30am. A luncheon reception will follow the service. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Leesburg at 2:30pm. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Holy Comforter, Vienna, VA, St. John's Episcopal Church, Arlington, VA or the charity of your choice.
