Nancy Brewer McCarthy

Nancy Brewer McCarthy (79) passed away on Monday, January 30 at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax Virginia. She was born August 23, 1937 to James Lee and Muriel F. Berg Brewer. In 1953 her family relocated to Arlington, Virginia. Nancy remained a resident of Northern Virginia from that time until her passing.
On June 11, 1960, she married Wilson C. McCarthy of Arlington; they resided in Arlington for several years and then purchased their current home in Vienna, Virginia.
Nancy was a graduate of Washington-Lee High School, Arlington and Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Upon graduation from college she accepted a position as a secretary in what was at the time the Post Office Department of the Federal Government. She remained with the postal service throughout her long and successful career, working primarily in the real estate acquisitions area. After 34 years of service, she retired in 1992.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Wilson 'Bunk' McCarthy and a sister, Barbara Lee Brewer Hammonds, of Clearville, Pennsylvania. Viewing will be held at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 West Maple Avenue, Vienna, Virginia 22180 on Thursday, February 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. A brief service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:30 on February 9th. Interment will be at Columbia Gardens Memorial Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia on Thursday, February 16 at 10 a.m.
