Neil M. Mac Donald died peacefully in his sleep at his home in McLean, Virginia at the age of 82. After graduating from Regis College in Denver, Colorado, he joined his family’s construction business in Arlington, Virginia where he worked until his retirement. He was a main contractor for the Washington Gas Company and supplied small gas lines to local homes as well as large interstate gas lines through Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Neil was a lifelong Catholic and was a member of St. Luke Roman Catholic Church in McLean, Virginia for fifty-five years. He was also a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Key West, Florida where he served as an alter server and eucharistic minister.

Neil enjoyed hiking, boating, fishing and visiting National Parks. Neil's passion for boating and fishing made him appreciate the great outdoors. He enjoyed countless hours on various waterways including the Potomac River, the Chesapeake Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico off of Key West, Florida.

Neil was devoted to his family and he is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Anita D. Mac Donald; two daughters, Diane Mac Donald and Laura Conroy; his son-in-law, Richard Conroy and grand-daughter Lea Conroy. He is also survived by his brother, William G. Mac Donald of Charleston, South Carolina; two sisters, Mary Christopher and Barbara Pettey from Wilmington, Delaware. He was pre-deceased by his brother, John J. Mac Donald.



A Catholic Funeral Mass will be offered at Saint Luke Church in McLean, Virginia.
