Petar Cemovic, son of the late Ljubomir & Nada Cemovic was born on June 12, 1927 in Bijelo Polje, in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. He spent his childhood living in what is now known as Serbia & Montenegro. Shortly after the Nazi invasion of Yugoslavia in 1940, at the age of 16, he joined the Cetnik resistance & spent much of World War II fighting in a guerilla unit. His unit was eventually captured by the Nazi's & he was sent to the Nova Gradiska Concentration Camp from which he & his brother escaped, avoided almost certain death. Later, he fled through Yugoslavia on foot, escaping both Communist & Nazi elements.

Following the end of World War II, he made his way to Germany, where he resided for several years before eventually relocating to the United States. Following World War II, he spent time in Italy & Germany, where he attended the University of Munich.

On April 8, 1971, he married his beloved Helga in Cologne, Germany. Their joyous union & eternal love birthed their son, Marko on June 7, 1972.

Petar's second love to his family was to his country. His devotion inspired him to serve the United States in a variety of capacities over a forty year span, including his employment with the Central Intelligence Agency in 1987. Petar served as a dedicated & highly decorated Intelligence Officer with the CIA until he retired in 1999. In recognition of his achievement & service Petar was awarded the honor of the CIA Career Intelligence Medal upon his retirement.

Next to his family, his career was his passion. He was an avid student of history & follower of current affairs. Petar also loved traveling & solving crossword puzzles.

He leaves the following to cherish his memory: his loving wife Helga, son Marko, daughter-in-law Jennine, Edmund & Margarette Roosen, his in-laws in Germany, niece Nada Stirratt-Cemovic, nephew Robert Cemovic, sister-in-law Rada Cemovic, & a host of cousins & dear friends.
