Born in Montreal, Canada, she worked for the Red Cross and Foreign Affairs prior to becoming a homemaker to care for her sons. She was a member of Westwood Country Club in Vienna, VA for 40 years. She enjoyed duplicate bridge, golf, gardening, and traveling. She is predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Aurore de Grandpre, her husband(s) W. Edmund Koneczny and Orrin R. Magill, Jr., and her siblings Simone, Jule, Raymonde, and Denise. She is survived by her sister Louise Petit in Montreal, Canada, two sons Andre S. (Lois) Koneczny, Chantilly, VA and Paul R. (Lorianne) Koneczny, Overland Park, KS; 6 grandchildren, Kristen, Erika, Stephen, Katherine, William and Johnathan Koneczny, and 15 nieces and nephews residing in Canada.

J’aimerais tmoigner ma profonde gratitude pour tout ce que tante Pierrette a fait pour moi, avec oncle Ed, dans la priode la plus difficile de ma vie. Andr et Paul, ainsi qu’ votre pouse et vos enfants, j’offre mes sincres condolances et ma grande affection. Mon ami, Jim Corrigan, would like me to convey his condolence.

When I was a little boy I spent some time at my grandmother’s and I recall how impressed I was to see how smart my aunt Pierrette looked in her Red Cross war uniform and what character she showed! Rest in peace aunt Pierrette, you’ve had a fulfilling life, your god-son,
I know you have great memories of her that will stay with you forever. We are so sorry for the loss you must feel now that she has passed away. You are in our hearts and prayers.
La perte de votre mère qui s’est éteinte doucement comme une flamme, tout récemment, crée un vide que rien ne peut remplacer, sauf peut-être par l’amour qu’elle vous a prodigué et dont vos proches bénéficient présentement, dans le regard que vous portez sur vos propres enfants, dans les attentions que vous leur accordez et dans l’écoute et la patience dont ils ont besoin pour s’accomplir. Au nom de ma mère, mes frères et sœurs, je vous transmets notre empathie toute entière puisque votre mère était non seulement ma tante avec qui j’avais certaines affinités mais aussi l’ainée de nos parents de Grandpré. Je vous souhaite cette consolation de savoir que vous n’êtes pas seuls, et que Dieu vous accompagne pour vous aider à faire face à ce deuil sans l’esquiver, avec courage et gratitude pour les qualités et les valeurs que votre mère vous a léguées.
