Richard Anthony Tanzillo, passed away on September 8, 2024, at the age of 85,
in Pompano Beach, Florida. Born on July 4, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York to
Salvatore and Louise Tanzillo. Richard was a man of exceptional intelligence,
humor, and love, touching the lives of all who knew him.
After completing his education at Catholic University with a Master’s Degree in
Electrical Engineering, Richard dedicated over 30 years of his life to serving the
United States government in various roles. His expertise and commitment to
his work did not cease upon retirement; he continued as a consultant for the
Israeli and Saudi Arabian military and other allied nations, sharing his
knowledge and fostering international cooperation.
Richard’s passion for music and entertainment was evident from a young age.
He began his journey as a solo artist before joining the Joe Pastor Orchestra,
where his melodious voice captivated audiences. His talent extended to voice
artistry, including his memorable work in the popular Coppertone commercial.
Richard’s love for singing was a testament to his belief in the power of art to
bring joy and inspiration.
His personal life was as rich and fulfilling as his professional endeavors.
Richard was the beloved husband of Peter Vance Treibley, a partnership that
embodied devotion and mutual respect. He was a loving father to Michele
Minunno (Steven) and Lauren Mariano (Joe), instilling in them the values of
kindness and perseverance. He delighted in his role as a grandfather to
Samantha, Danielle, and Antonia. Richard’s siblings, Maryann Kaufman and
Kenneth Tanzillo, along with several nieces, remember him fondly.
Predeceased by the mother of his daughters, Kathleen Ann Behar, Richard’s
legacy of love and family continues to shine through the lives of those he
cherished.
Those who knew Richard would describe him as not only loving, intelligent,
and funny but also as a beacon of light in their lives. His ability to find humor
in the mundane and his quick wit were gifts that made every interaction with
him a cherished memory. Indeed, Richard lived for others in every sense,
through his work, his music, and his unwavering commitment to his family and
friends.
As we bid farewell to a truly remarkable man, we are reminded of the laughter,
the music, and the wisdom he shared. His legacy will continue to inspire and
guide us, as we remember a life well-lived and a man dearly loved.
