Capt. Richard William Thomas, US Navy (Ret.)age 77 of Vienna, Virginia died on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Reston Hospital due to a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Constance T. Thomas; loving father of Kim (John) Ziegelbauer and Scott (Mary Alice) Thomas. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Adrienne and Matthew Ziegelbauer and Reid and Flory Thomas. Capt. Richard Thomas was a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University in 1957, member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and a Naval Aviator in the US Navy for 28 years. Services at Arlington National Cemetery will be announced. In lieu flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Mr. Thomas was always very warm and kind. I enjoyed our conversations over the years, and he never failed to give me a hug and show interest in how I was doing.
