Roberta (Bobbi) Jean Curtin, 76, passed peacefully after a brief illness on November 3, 2024. She will continue to be loved by many: her husband James Curtin of Vienna, Virginia; her children and their spouses, Christian and Megan Curtin of Leesburg, Virginia, and Jennifer and Dennis McGugan of Rutland, Massachusetts; her adored grandchildren Grace and Caroline Curtin and Patrick McGugan; her sisters Mitzi Strasser and Joann (Mike) Riggs and their families of Louisville, Kentucky; many wonderful extended relatives; and the countless patients she cared for during her long career in nursing. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Jean Dentinger of Louisville, Kentucky, and other beloved family and friends.
In keeping with Bobbi’s wishes, all services will be private. However, our gratitude and appreciation extend widely to those who provided constant support to Bobbi and her family in her final weeks. We would like to thank the dedicated nurses and doctors of Fairfax Hospital Floor 5, the hospice angels on Team 641 at VITAS Healthcare, and the staff of BrightStar Care. We are especially grateful to Esra Gokturk for her years of compassionate care and friendship.
In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made to VITAS Healthcare as they continue to provide comfort when it’s needed most.
Nanangel, we are forever together and thank you for all you gave to me and to Chris and Jenny and Megan and Dennis and our super wonderful grandchildren, Grace, Caroline and Patrick. You will be with us each moment of each day and light our way. All My Love, Abu
Nana, you will never be far from my heart and mind, and I’m so thankful to have been gifted you as my guiding light from birth! Every part of me is better from having you as my Nana. I love you to infinity and back and back and back! I’m so thankful for our time together!
Dear Curtins and McGugans,
I am so sorry for your loss. As you know, Momma C. was more than just my best friend’s mother, she was like a second mother to me. She always welcomed us into your home, hosting us after school, for dinners, and sleepovers. From spontaneous road trips to John Bon Jovi’s house, to showing up with the wrap I didn’t know I needed on my very cold wedding day, she was always there for us. I admired her deeply as a nurse, and even more so when she became my nurse. She treated me with such care- I don’t know how I would have made it through without her. Even after we had grown up, she continued to watch, cheering us all on from the sidelines. Momma C.’s guidance on marriage and my career was invaluable- she was always right in what she said. I was truly blessed to know Bobbi Curtin, an angel on Earth and now in heaven. I am sending all my love and condolences.
