(Age 94)

Of McLean, VA, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015. She was born in Memphis, TN where she attended Rhodes College for two years and received a BA from L.S.U. in 1941. During WWII she served in the WAVES in Washington from 1944-1946. Rosanna retired as a Lt. Commander in 1967 from the US Navy Reserves.

She worked as a Sr. Public Health Analyst for the California Department of Public Health from 1946-1948. From 1948- 1950 she studied architechure at the University of California in Berkeley. From 1950- 1951 she did graduate work in City and Regional Planning at Berkeley. In 1951-1953 Rosanna was employed at the Sacramento, California Redevelopment Authority where she worked on the "Old Sacramento" urban renewal project. From 1954-1962 she was an Urban Planner for Arlington County, Virginia.

Rosanna was a member of the Woman's National Democratic Club, American Institute of Certified Planners, American Planning Association, and an Urban Planner with the Regional Office of HUD in Philadelphia, PA from 1963-1978, when she transferred to the HUD area in Washington. She retired in 1982 as a Urban Planner and Naval Officer,

She leaves behind a niece, Marsha Powell, currently living in Istanbul, Turkey and also a dear friend and companion, Ramatu, Bah. Relatives and friends are invited to Rosanna's Life Celebration at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA, on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
