Russell Simms
April 25, 1930 ~ August 27, 2017
Russell Lee Simms of Arlington, VA passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2017 in Iliff Nursing Home after a long battle of dementia.
He was born in Powhatan, WV on April 25, 1930 to Russell and Canary Simms. He moved to northern VA in 1953. Russell married Evelyn Ruth Cartwright on 8/31/57. He worked and retired from Mrs. Smith Pie Company as a route saleman for 25 years and later worked at All Seasons Corp. and Sonshine Cleaning Services as an area manager.
Russell was a hard, working man that always placed his family first. He took care of his neighbors and most anyone in need. He was an avid Redskin fan, loved all genres of music and appreciated the beauty of God’s creation. However, his greatest pleasure was being the head usher at Grace Community Church where he found great joy welcoming children and adults into the House of the Lord.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Evelyn, along with his daughter, Krista Slye, her husband John and their two children, Jonathan Lee and Evelyn Grace.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 12:00 p.m. at Westover Baptist Church, Arlington followed by interment at Columbia Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grace Community Church Children’s Outreach Ministry.

Dear Simms family,
Please rest assured that Jehovah God is aware of the pain you feel with the passing of your loved one. Revelation 21:4 is Gods promise to you.
