She passed away peacefully at her home on July 11, 2011 at the age of 90. She was married to Gerald F. Simon for 60 years. She is survived by sons, Jay Allen, Thomas Neil; grandson, Tyler Blue; brother, Edward Graham of Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth retired from Fairfax Hospital after which she volunteered there for many years. She was an avid Bingo player and puzzle solver and enjoyed rides in the country and dinners out with her husband and sons. She also liked to sew and made many costumes that she would use to dress up on holidays at the hospital. She was known by many as "Mrs. Santa Claus".

  1. Ruth and I were the two who were in wheelchairs at the CYAC dinners. Jay and Chris now have an angel to watch over them. For my parties, she would give me a stuffed animal. Now I will cherish those. Being that we were the only two in wheelchairs, sometimes she would give me a kiss. I’m going to miss her. Just because someone has lived a full life does not make their passing any easier. It was easy to see how much her sons cared for her, as anyone whose life she touched. I love you, Mrs Simon! <3 Katie
