She confirmed her Baptismal faith in 1970, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Virginia. Her Confirmation verse remains an accurate portrait of her approach to life: "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." -- Psalm 55:22. She graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School in 1970, and from James Madison High School in Vienna, Virginia, in 1974. In 1978, she earned a B.A. in Economics and English with a minor in Physics from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia.

Sandy worked at General Research Corporation in McLean, Virginia, as a Computer Analyst from 1978 to 1993 and then at the Carnegie Institution of Washington, D.C., in the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism as Senior Systems Administrator and Astronomer until her death. As a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, she was consistently active in Bible study, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and the Young Adults Group. She traveled extensively, was a lover of history, science, literature, theology, and was quite accomplished in the culinary arts. Sandy is known for being generous, hospitable, a loyal friend, and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and Godmother.

She is survived by her dear father Bernhard E. Keiser, loving siblings Carol (Steve) Stearns, Nancy (Paul) Nus, Linda (Stan) Temme, Paul (Angela) Keiser, and beloved nieces and nephews Elizabeth & Bryan Stearns; Stephen, Kirsten, & Sarah Nus; Lydia (Tim) Wilcoxen, David (Elise), Ruth, Jonathan, Lois, & Silas Temme; Rachel, Kathryn, & Christie Keiser.

  2. Sandy, You are a very special and unique person. I enjoyed the times we shared together, and I know my Mom had a blast with you on those Saturday lunches…I loved hearing the stories of your capers together! You will be missed by many – evidence of a life well-lived! With much love, from Thomas Pullmann and my parents, David and Sharlyn Pullmann.
