  1. Dear Ali, Nina, Jasmine, & Sara, We are sad Shahrzad has left this life; we will miss her beautiful love & kindness. She was a radiant blessing; the light of Christ. She was torn about leaving but content to accept God’s will. He was very close & she clung to him. She might have said (I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ…but also to remain with you). She did not want to leave her precious husband & family: she wanted to remain & be there for you; to see you girls grow: to see the next generation. Yet she said, “His will, not mine.” We know the Truth. She is now at home with the Lord, pain-free & perfected in Christ our Lord. Still, it hurts. You have our heart felt sympathy & love. Our love & prayers are with you. our citizenship is in heaven, & from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

  2. Shahrzad was such a beautiful person and I know she will be missed. Our family prayers go out to the family at this most difficult time. Her spirit will live on.

  3. We will remember always the radiance of Christ that shown from Shahrzad as we would see her in our TeamMates Sunday School class each week. She will be missed so much, but we are grateful for her love of Christ and to know that she is celebrating His birthday in person with Him tomorrow. Praise God that she no longer suffers. Our prayers and blessings go to all the family who miss her so. May you be strengthened by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the knowledge that your wife and mother touched and loved many people.

  4. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Shahrzad is a wonderful woman of the Lord. Her faith sustained her and sustains her now as she is in the presence of the Lord. Our prayers are with Ali and her precious girls – Jasmine, Sara and Nina as they grieve her loss. Love in Christ, The Marcario Family.

  5. Shahrzad was a wonderful Christian sister, friend, and a “battle buddy” through hard times. I will miss those deep heart to heart times of sharing with her. She greatly loved her family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I look forward to seeing her again someday when we’re both at the feet of Jesus. Ali- you and the girls continue to be in our prayers for God’s presence and comfort through this time. Much love, Jerry and Rilla Vignon

  6. To Ali and Family We were privileged to have known and been blessed by the sweetness of Shahrzad’s spirit. May the Lord in his tender mercy assauge your grief with the assurance Shahrzad now beholds Christ face-to-face. May the faith the Lord has also given you rejoice in knowing you will be together again. Sola Deo Gloria!

  7. I am deeply sorry for the loss of such a beautiful person. May it bring us comfort that she is in a place free from the pain and sickness. God bless her family!

  8. The first words that come to mind about Shari are elegant, beautiful, warm, a lovely person. We are so sad about her loss. It was a shock. She bore her illness in a courageous and private way. We respect her privacy and are here to offer support and love to her family any way we can, especially to Jasmine, who is a delight to know. Much love, Barbara and Pat.

  9. “I know that my Redeember lives, and at the last he will take his stand on the earth. Even after my skin is destroyed, yet from my flesh I shall see God; Whom I myself shall behold, and whom my eyes shall see and not another.” (Job 19:25-27) I know that Shahrzad now is worshipping her beloved face to face. And, one day, we will again see her forever. How I will miss her precious friendship in this life. I pray that the Lord will give you His peace that passeth all understanding as you grieve. Her heart’s desire was for her family to know Jesus intimately as she did/does. Know that Jesus is all sufficient and holds your tears in His bottle. He deeply cares about your sorrow.

  10. i didn’t know your mother but she obviously was very special and well- loved by the neighborhood. My deepest sympathy at this difficult time. Laurie Goldberg

  11. We could all learn some valuable lessons from our dear friend, Shahrzad. Her courage and strong faith in her Savior are stand-outs as well as her precious smile and sweet spirit. 28. After putting two and two together I realized this was my dear friend Shahrzad. 30 years ago Shahrzad and I met at Iowa State’s Entomology Department and became good friends throughout her years there. She had the most beautiful eyes and a smile that was so filled with a glow of life. 30. Dear friends, our brother & sisters in ChristAli, Jasmine, Sara & Nina. We grieve with you and walk at your side, entrusting to Gods larger purposes, good plans, and eternal perspective. We know that Shahrzads faith centered on these truths. Our prayers for you are that you will not only survive this loss, but in time and through Christ, you will thrive as you walk with God and continue to find Him to be the light of your soul. May the loss of your beloved wife and mother create an even larger God-thirst in your souls. As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? (Psalm 42:1-2). May you know Christ in deeper ways, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming more like him (Philippians 3:10). May you find shalom. We love you.

  31. I am so truly shocked by Shahrzad’s passing and my heart pours out to her and her family. Shahrzad was truly a beautiful person. I can still see her smile. I can still see her style, too, as her sense of fashion was impeccable. As a dedicated volunteer for our diplomat organization, she embraced our mission and assisted where she could. We will miss her so much. I remember her talking about her kids in such admiration! Again, my heart pours out to her kids and husband. May the Lord help you all find the journey of healing and may Shahrzad rest in peace! Christine Carbonel Schaubach THIS for Diplomats, Volunteer

  33. “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:16 Shahrzad is my Sister in Christ. I was blessed to be her friend. I miss her but rejoice with her victory in Jesus.

  34. In “The One Year Bible,” the Dec. 23rd N.T. passage starts with these words: “Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb …” It made me think of the amazing experiences we know Shahrzad enjoyed when she arrived in heaven on Dec. 23rd. We feel privileged for the time and friendship we shared with Shahrzad. She encouraged us so much. She relayed to us the amazing closeness she had with the Lord, the comfort of His love, and her trust in His perfect plan and timing. Ali, Jasmine, Nina, Sara, and family, you are in our prayers daily, that God will continue showering you with His supernatural presence, peace, encouragement, comfort, and love.

  35. It is such a sad thing to see how hard this is on you but I am encouraged as I think of your Mom in heaven fully healthy – more alive than ever before- with the Lord Jesus. Soon we will all be where “He wipes away ever tear..” We are praying for you.

  43. Dear Ganjei Family, I knew Shahrzad as Shazi at Iowa State and just learned of her passing. I was her academic adviser. Such a talented, beautiful young woman and a joy to know. One of my favorite memories is that Shazi came to my office concerned that she may not get an A in a class and was concerned that her parents would be disappointed. I told her that maybe she was not meant to get all A’s at the university and that her parents would be most proud of her effort to get an A grade in every class rather than achieving the A grade itself. She told me she never thought of it like that and looked like she had the weight of the world lifted off her shoulders. She never again seemed so stressed about achieving perfect grades. She was the type of person that you knew the world was a better place because of her presence and I am sure those traits continue with her family.
