Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Jim was a great person to work with and I had the occasion to work with him through several business recovery exercises at the Winchester VA site for Navy Federal Credit Union. We will miss him.

  2. Our sincere condolences to you and your family, Celia, on the loss of your dear husband.

  3. Blessings to the whole Blalock family with the loss of the remarkable, funny, curious, generous, and loving Jim. As we pass through grief, we are buoyed by the joy he brought to so many. Celia, call and we will come.

  4. Jim was the best friend I ever had. Time may have faded some of the memories, but I have never forgotten that he was and will always be my friend.

  5. Celia Mary and I enjoyed all of the family visits where you and Jim were in attendance. The one that comes to mind was the cooking of crabs in Chris’s backyard. Jim will be missed by all

  6. Dear Celia and family, Our sincere condolences go out to you. Although we only met Jim a few times over the years, after reading Mike Jr’s email we know the wonderful, loving man he was. Jackie & Ernie Glinka

  7. My sincere sympathy to Celia and all of the family. I last had the pleasure of Jim and Celia having brunch with me this past January in my home in VA Beach. Celia and Jim put up a brave effort to live life to its fullest this past year and against Jim’s brain cancer. Love, Marianne

  8. Jim was such a lovely person who always had a good story to tell, a hand to lend, and a smile to brighten the day. His love for his family was always evident and I am sure his loss is so hard. May the memories of how wonderful he was sustain you in this difficult time. Yvonne

  9. Celia, We are very sorry for your loss and will be praying for you and your family. Frank and Angie Maccia

  10. Mrs. Blalock, I am so sorry to learn of your loss. Please know you and your family are in my thoughts. Sincerely, Dottie Lemos

  11. Dear Michelle, We are so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. Walter heard James’ name on the Prairie Home Companion last night, but didn’t hear it all. So today I listened again in hopes that we might be able to re-connect after so many years, but instead heard that your Dad had passed away. I’m not sure you will remember us, but we knew you when you were a little girl living in Groton, Connecticut. Your Dad and Walter served on the USS Gato. You always called me Miss Joanne. Your Dad was a wonderful man. Please accept our condolences. Walter and Joanne Libby

  12. Dear Celia, family and friends of Jim,
On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, having only recently been informed, we offer our sincere condolences at Jim´s passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow “Bubblehead” departs on Eternal Patrol. He served with honor on the USS Gato SSN-615.
To our “Brother-of-the-Phin” we say, “Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. Fair Winds and Following Seas.” Thank you for your service to our country.
Celia and family… “may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16 (ESV).
    Jim Sandman, FTC(SS) Ret,
    National Chaplain, USSVI.
