STANLEY E. NEUPERT

Died July 16, 2007 at Fairfax Hospital from complications due to aspiration pneumonia. Born Stanley Elwood Neupert on April 4, 1922 in Burlington, IA, the only child of the late Edward Neupert and Vera Ida Klarr.

Stanley was a World War II medic, part of the 4th Infantry Section, 8th Battalion, who landed on D-day on Utah Beach, France. He earned the Silver Star saving a fellow serviceman's life on the battlefield in St. Lo, France.

Stanley held many jobs over his lifetime, including streetcar driver in Chicago, IL, cartographic aide at the then Geological Survey, postman and school bus driver. He was very passionate about trains and animals.

Stanley is survived by his stepsister, Marion Kelly of Tinley Park, IL; brother-in-law, Paul Litz of Windsor, PA; brother-in-law, George Petrak of Glendale, CA; sister-in-law, Carol Edwards of Avis, PA; sister-in-law of G. Lexine Petrak of Centreville, VA and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at MONEY & KING FUNERAL HOME, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on July 19, 2007 at 3 p.m. Stanley will be interred at National Memorial Park, 7400 Lee Hwy., Falls Church, VA immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Stanley's memory to your local humane society.
