Born in Milton, MA, son of Charlotte and John Ryan died after a brief illness in Arlington, VA, late of Fairfax, VA and Randolph, MA. He leaves his wife Michele of 28 years and his dear daughter Jamie Nye Ryan, the light of his life; his mother Charlotte Simmons and step-father James Simmons of Plymouth, MA; sisters Susan Ryan of Sarasota, FL and Cathleen Unkovic of Wynnewood, PA and brother Jeffery Ryan of Jersey City, N.J.; his in-laws, John and Nancy Castagna, niece Syndie Haigh, nephew and god-son John Haigh, Denice Haigh all of Philadelphia, PA.

Steven was a graduate of UMass, Amherst, MA, with Master degrees from Villanova University and George Washington University, the latter in Environmental Sciences. He was employed for 20 years at the EPA Energy Star Division. Previous to that he worked for Sunlight Power Int. where he spent months at a time establishing their facility in Morroco.

He was an avid environmentalist, a lifelong Boston Patriot, Celtic, and Red Sox fan. He also attended Trinity College in Oxford, England and was the author of several publications related to environmental issues and was well known in the industry representing the EPA at national seminars and conferences.

Steven was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be sorely missed. Funeral service will be held at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Friday January 12 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Sierra Club, 415-977-5500 or www.sierraclub.org or the charity of your choice.
