Tyronne Dales was born on September 28th 1961, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Marva Julia Hill and the late Clarence F.T. Dales.
Primarily educated in the Baltimore City School District, he attended Commodore John Rogers Elementary School, Patterson Jr. High School, and Patterson High School. Tyronne would spend some summers visiting Philadelphia along with his brother Omar to spend time with their father and various relatives.
From a very young age, Tyronne was musically talented. He was a member of his band from junior high school through high school, where he played the double bass and sousaphone. He also played cello in his school’s classical band and participated in marching band playing tuba. He even committed to every teenager’s rite of passage and joined a rock band as a bass player.
The rock band – ironically called LONGEVITY – played together for three years, gigging at local area clubs and garnering a small but loyal following. Tyronne would often say that he got the most pleasure when he had the free time to compose music with the band’s drummer. During his sophomore year at a local college, he auditioned and was accepted for a fourth-string cello position at the Boston Symphony Orchestra, but he was suddenly called to duty. As with every other man in his family, Tyronne felt an obligation to serve his country; joining the Air Force at age 19, he sold his cello and embarked on a new life.
Tyronne entered the United States Air Force on June 8th, 1983. During his career with the USAF, he worked in the Dental industry for almost 26 years and earned the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a decorated serviceman earning the Meritorious Service Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Achievement Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award with 3 oak leaf clusters, AF Good Conduct Medal with 7 oak leaf clusters, National Defense Medal with 1 service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, AF Overseas Ribbon Short, The White House Medical Unit Certificate of Recognition from The Physician To The President for his “Outstanding Achievement In Support Of The White House Medical Unit And The President of The United States.” He retired with honorable discharge after 26 years of service in the United States Air Force.
Not long after joining the Air Force, Tyronne met the love of his life, Miki, on a blind date while stationed in Japan in 1984. From their first conversation, Miki was drawn to his kindness, enthusiasm, and open-mindedness. They dated and married within a year and went on to create a beautiful family with their three children, Egan, Asano, and Amelia
Tyronne later went on to earn a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland University College. Tyronne was a natural philomath and a classically trained Musician. Tyronne earned an accumulation of certifications from Berklee College of Music, including: a Specialist Certificate in Producing Music with Logic, a Professional Certificate in Bass, a Professional Certificate in Music Business, and a Specialist Certificate in General Music Studies. One of his greatest self-proclaimed accomplishments was a patent received for a sound recording entitled “Absolutely Brilliant Ra Se Ra” in 2014; as a lifelong composer of music and production of sound, he held this achievement in the highest regard.
Tyronne was a loving husband, father, brother, and son and spent time in his later years creating musical scores, playing bass, collecting guns and arms, reading, and cooking. Tyronne was known by those who knew him and loved him as kind, generous, empathetic, and easy to talk to. He was a foodie; he loved to eat and would try any food at least once. Tyronne was physically courageous all his life. He had optimism and resilience; he didn’t back down from challenges.
Sadly, he was suddenly called home on April 2nd, 2024. He was 62 years old. Tyronne is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Miki, as well as his children Egan Dales, Asano (Brian) Greer, Amelia Dales; his grandson Joel Greer; his mother Marva J. Hill; his stepmother Francisca M. Dales; his siblings Omar (Melissa) Dales; Monalisa (Ned) Wogwugwu RN, and Marisa Dales.
