Verna M. Hennrikus

Verna M. Hennrikus, 91, of Springfield, Va., died on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Greenspring Retirement Community. Born December 23, 1922 in Sioux City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Henry C. and Nora Helen Lorenzen. After attending Iowa State University, she married George F. Hennrikus, Jr., on February 6, 1945. Mrs. Hennrikus traveled extensively during her husbands Air Force career. finally settling in Fort Washington, MD. Colonel Hennrikus died in 1993. Mrs. Hennrikus was a loving wife and mother, and is survived by five daughters and two sons; Cynthia Garner (David) of Oakton, Va; Deborah Hennrikus of Minneapolis, MN; Barbara Webne (Ronald) of Alexandria, Va; Thomas Hennrikus (William) of Washington, DC; Andrea Hennrikus of McLean, VA; Lisa Higgins of Charlotte, NC; and George Hennrikus III (Elizabeth) of Charleston, SC. She also leaves eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services and interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
