Werner Windus

CDR Werner Windus USN (Ret) of McLean, VA died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Loudoun County Hospital from complications following surgery, he was 92. His wife, Virginia, of 58 years, preceded him in death. Werner was born in Baltimore, MD to Ruth and Charles Windus.
Werner received a BA degree from Johns Hopkins and a law degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore in 1949. He later received a doctorate of law from Georgetown University. He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.
He served in the US Navy for 28 years. Werner was a communications officer in World War II. He also served the Navy as an attorney in the JAG corp.
After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a Director of Legislative Affairs for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon. Following his retirement in 1985, he continued working for 15 years doing legal research for various insurance companies.
He is survived by his children, Robert Windus of Great Falls, VA, Lisa Morsch of Potomac Falls, VA and Janet Windus-Yavrouian of Briarcliff Manor, New York and his grandchildren William and Robert Morsch, Lena Yavrouian and Thomas, Ryan and Sara Windus.
