Col. William Blanton Boyd of Landsdowne, VA, on March 16, 2007, at Powhatan Nursing Home. Loving husband of Mary T. Boyd. Devoted father of Kathleen Conlin, Michael (Melissa) Boyd; Patrick (Mary) Boyd; Andrew (Cathleen) Boyd; Lauren (Fred) Summers and Susan (Joel) Guth. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 West Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Thursday, March 22, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Ft. Myer Old Post Chapel on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 12:45 p.m. Interment immediately following the service in Arlington National Cemtery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 21370 St. Theresa Lane, Ashburn, VA 20147.

To Bill’s widow, Mary and family, Please accept the deepest sympathy of my wife and myself on Bill’s passing. I served with Bill in the late 1950’s at Bolling AFB. I was a newly minted OSI agent and Bill was one of my early mentors. He taught me a great deal, much of which I can still recall. We also served together in Wiesbaden. in the mid-1960’s.In subsequent years our paths crossed often. Bill was a fine man with one of the keenest minds I know-quick witted and direct. His Master of Ceremonies performances were legendary. Bill was one of those characters in life that are not easily forgotton.
