William M. Dvoranchik

With family by his side, Bill Dvoranchik passed away early in the morning on November 26, 2015 from a long term heart condition. He was always one who enjoyed a great family holiday so it's no surprise that Thanksgiving, one of his favorites, was the best opportunity to send his soul to rest.

Bill was born on July 30, 1946 in Jersey City, New Jersey to William A. Dvoranchik and Mary Tomek Dvoranchik. He grew up in Kearny, New Jersey where he often helped in the family's delicatessen before attending Rutgers University (RU). Bill was often heard singing the RU fight song off key at the most inappropriate times. While he left New Jersey later in life, these early years defined him as he constantly referred to himself as a "Jersey Boy" for his great ability to argue any side of a topic and then ending it because he was always right. Bill and his two surviving siblings, Clare Klunk and Joan Csedrik, are responsible for forming the tight and loving family network that carries through each generation.

Bill traveled across the country to the University of Arizona where he completed his masters degree in information systems. This was a fortuitous decision for him as he met the love of his life, Toni Anne Bower. Married for 42 years, from 1972 until Toni's passing last year in August of 2014, they were a great couple who were always planning the next great family experience. Survived by his three children, William T. Dvoranchik, Stephen P. Dvoranchik and Carrie A. Feord, and his 10 grandchildren (Liam, Walker, Payton, Grace, Joshua, Hannah, Lucas, Adelaide, Noah, and Peter), Bill was the leader of many adventures and the kids and grandkids each have numerous stories about escapades they had with Dad/Grandpa. During these outings, there was no activity which couldn't be conquered. Road trips to see his beloved Giants in the Meadowlands, trips to the ballet, amazing family vacations, day long spectating at dance, track, and gymnastics events, crab feasts around the picnic table, and as always the leader of any day or holiday that involved family and friends gathering around.

Bill spent his entire professional career at Electronic Data Systems (EDS). He was a great business leader and was loved and respected by team members, colleagues, bosses, and employees alike, who knew his loyalty for them and their company. EDS allowed Bill and his family to experience life in several different locations including Pennsylvania, Texas, Iran, and Virginia. His years at EDS built loyal friendships that lasted until the day he passed.

After retirement, he immersed himself in several hobbies to keep himself mentally and physically active. He loved any games that challenged his brain and was always willing to join a game of cards or poker and was never afraid to visit Las Vegas with his sons to enjoy a full weekend of March Madness cheering on the Blue Devils. He developed an early love of golf and was a popular participant in the local clubs and tournaments. Until his last days, he still beamed proudly of his hole in one at the Westwood Country Club.

Bill had a love of friends and family and a love of life. He woke up every day thinking it is a great day to be alive. He wanted everyone he knew, to know that he loved each and every one of you very much and is so happy to have had each of you in his life.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. “Willie” as we all knew him was a great fraternity brother to all of us and especially to me. I have so many great memories of our days together. My wife and are very fortunate to have been able to count Toni and Bill among our friends.

  2. KHS Class of ’64, wonderful memories. Had Bill and Toni for dinner when we lived in Downingtown and they were in Lionville (’74?). Bill contributed to the success (both attendance and financial) to our class reunions. His humor and generosity was most appreciated. God bless to him and his family.

  3. Bill and I worked together at EDS for many years starting in New York in the early 70’s, then Frazer PA, Iran, Dallas and Washington DC. Bill always took on the tough assignments and never complained. He loved everything he did, be it at work, playing golf or poker but most of all he loved his family. If there if a silver lining to Bill’s passing, he is with his lovely wife Toni. Carrie, Stephen and Bill, your dad was great and we will all miss him.

  4. Willie and I were in the Rutgers University TKE pledge class of 1965. Spent 4 terrific years at college, had more fun than we should have. We lost touch, but reconnected about 2002. In the last 13 years I was amazed by his good fortune to have had the best loving wife imaginable in Toni. We shared visits in Reston and in SC, traveled to Rutgers football games, and played golf. I will miss him.

  5. May you have peace during this difficult time and allow memories to fill your lives with the joy he has given you. I worked with Bill at EDS and have fond memories of him, our teams, and those days!

  6. Our hearts go out to the entire Dvoranchik family. Bill was such an inspiration to many and his legacy will continue. We have many fond memories to hang on to. Again our deepest sympathies to all of you. He will be missed but never forgotten. Love Scott, Sharon, Brian, Kathleen and Kelsey

  12. Bill was a fantastic boss, outstanding mentor and even better friend! Anyone he met new they were in special company. Rest in peace Bill.

  13. I enjoyed working with Bill over the years at EDS. He was an excellent leader with a passion for his family, his company and his employees. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  14. Bill was a wonderful friend to us who will be missed. He brought smiles and happiness to everyone he met. We were lucky to be his friends.

  15. We along with everyone else Bill touched will miss him greatly. We are fortunate that we got to see Bill in Naples this past year and catch up on many good memories.

  16. At times like this I like to remember the good times – I first became acquainted with Bill in high school – Presbeterian Boys Club basketball – his team was named the ‘”Mice’ and won the league every year. Later in college at TEK Bill played and coached the defensive backs for our championship flag football team senior year. And there were also the bridge games and late night bowling tournaments Bill organized. After a stint in the Army I was lucky enough to hang out with Bill back in Kearny when he was working in NYC. A true Renaissance man who will be missed by all.

  17. Bill is a great friend and i will miss his wit and friendship. I will keep him and all his loved in my Mass intentions and prayers. God Bless Fr.Rich

  18. We met Bill through his sister Joan. Both Bill and Toni-Ann were just such nice people with enthusiasms that enriched the lives of so many. Some great memories, a Superbowl party in snowy Manhattan, an astonishing gourmet meal in Prague. Very much missed

  19. Willy and his great laugh and infectious smile will be missed by all who had contact with him. Remembering him as a TKE brother who loved to party and just have fun. He brought that same style to the TKE tailgates. Cherie and I will miss him but will raise our glasses to him along with our prayers.

  20. Knew Bill thru Mike and Joan Csedrik,( am Mike’s cousin) Used to just say hello and shake his hand. He was always very warm, but I didn’t really know what to talk to him about, since I rarely saw him. Then it was one party about a year ago that I sat down with Bill and we actually talked for a few hours!! Wow, what a great guy he was!! Friendly, warm, intelligent, knowledgable, AND just plain fun to converse with. We were close after that, as I was fortunate enough to see him twice more and we were like buds! I was so lucky to have gotten to know Bill. He is the kind of guy you would want in a foxhole with ya!! Great sense of loyalty toward his family and those who he got to know. Great sense of humor. So sad he’s gone, yet happy that he is back with Toni, again!!! I will miss you Bill! Thanks for your kindness towards me and your friendship!!

  21. Steve and Monica, Please know of my prayers for you and your entire family during your loss. May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

  22. Please accept our condolences with respect to Bill’s passing. He was a valued client of our CPA firm for in excess of 20 years. It was always a pleasure to speak with him on the telephone as he was always in such good spirits. He will be greatly missed.

  23. Bill was a great friend. He was also a great leader who did whatever it took to get the job done and to take care of his people. We worked together for many years at EDS and had the opportunity to play a lot of golf together. I cannot remember a single time that I ever beat him in that game. We all enjoyed being with Bill no matter what we were doing. We also had Bill and his whole leadership team at our lake house for “business meetings” where we could just get away and enjoy being together. Fun times. Bill loved his team and his family. I will always remember Bill and will miss him. Barry

  24. My heart goes out to you, Carrie, Steve and Will. You know how much I loved your Mom and Dad, my best friends for 37 years. So many great memories! I will miss them always. God bless all of you and your families. Love to you all!

  25. From the Book of Common Prayer: Give rest, O Christ, to thy servant Bill with thy saints, where sorrow & pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting. Grant to all who mourn a sure confidence in thy fatherly care, that, casting all their grief on thee, Carrie & Will & Stephen & families may know the consolation of thy love. Your Dad is deeply missed by all who knew him, a most faithful & committed friend. Wishing you peace-Kris Young

  26. What a beautiful tribute to your father! It is palpable that he was full of life, love and laughter. Just reading it makes me wish I had known him. What a blessing to be left with all those beautiful memories. There is no greater legacy for a father than to show his children how to live with joy, giving and grace.

  27. Rest in peace good friend. Bill was the “real deal”. He worked hard for himself, his team and the company. He had talent and was always learning. I count myself fortunate to have known him and call him friend.

  30. I have such a heavy heart as Bill was a great Mentor, Leader and a Friend and will be missed, but I know he is in a better place and happy with his love(Toni).

  31. On 12/2/1998, Bill gave me my first EDS dollar during a new hire orientation day. Bill asked our group a question and I was the first to respond. For that, Bill reached into his wallet and gave me my first buck earned from EDS. A wonderful guy.
